If you want to know what this title refers to, I know it may sound strange but all will be revealed later on in this opinion. Introduction ++++++++++ Populous was one of the first series of games that changed the face of gaming, the first one involved a strategy slash action and this, the third version is no different. This game can be more classed as ‘prequel’ rather than a sequel as it goes a bit further back in time. The Story ++++++++ You play a Shaman who is a leader of a primitive tribe who is hell bent on becoming a god. The basic idea of the game is to kill the rest of the tribes and conquer each world to be ... Read the complete review

I'm a bit of a veteran of computer gaming, having played the first two populouses in the dim and distant past when Atari STs were actually considered to be useful, rather than doorstops! I didnt like populous 1 or 2 very much. Bit dull really. So imagine my surprise when Populous 3 turned out to be good. I was most surprised. It's actually more like powermonger (for those who can remember) than populous, which is probably why I like it. In it, you control your God and your army, and worship totem poles to acquire spells (the usual populous fare, typhoons, lightning, etc) and build more buildings to expand your village (also to train your troops). ... Imagine what it would be like to have the power of a God. To control an ancient tribe. To battle it out with other tribes. This is what Populous 3 allows you to do. There are many games like Populous out there but this is still one of the best. It's not exactly new and you're most likely to find it in a bargain bin but if you do, don't pass it by. The game involves you controlling the Shaman of a tribe. You take this tribe and build huts and they then breed. Eventually you build training huts to specialise your tribe members and turn them into priests and warriors. Your Shaman can also learn spells, some gained by worshiping stone heads ... I loved Populous on the sega mega drive, it was fun playing, but that was a long time ago. I was lucky enough to win the PC version of this, and wondered ho wit would look. When loading it there were several options regarding the graphics cards so that you could tell it whether you had a 3D accelerated card. Basically, this is a God game, you build up a nation, attack others and defend your own. If you like the original you will love this, if you found the original you may well still like this as there is so much more to it. The most stunning effect of this is the graphics, they are amazing. I may be a little biased as this is the first games I have ... Read the complete review
