Project Eden is a squad based action adventure game with the emphasis on puzzle solving with occasional battles.The game is set in a futuristic city like in the film Bladerunner.The rich live at top of the city while the outcasts of society live at bottom where there is no sunlight.You take control of the Urban Protection Agency who are sent to investigate the mysterious dissappearance of some engineers who were sent to repair a malfunction at the Real Meat factory. The folks who introduced the world to Lara Croft have taken the action-adventure in a new direction with Project Eden. Core Design, best known for its work on the Tomb Raider series, has done a complete about-face on its "shoot first, push buttons later" philosophy and produced one of the more cerebral titles of the year in this futuristic thriller. While everything doesn't quite pull together as well as it should, there is enough here to interest anyone that enjoys cunning design and challenging puzzles. Game designers sure don't make the future seem very fun. Either the rich are hoarding all the clean air, fresh water, 2-ply toilet paper and other essentials, or the whole planet has been reduced to a putrid, festering, nuclear dumping ground where you don't want to meet the unluckier half of civilization. Doesn't anyone foresee a "Jetsons" style future with flying cars and escalators that can take you from your bed to the office in mere seconds ? Or are we all truly doomed to cosmic disaster ?
