Advantages: Great gameplay, good graphics
Disadvantages: aging now
About/Type of Game: Quake is the late follow up to the doom series of games, but this time the graphics are greatly improved and the weapons look so much better. The game is basically a first person shooter and you have to go through all the levels to complete your mission, which is to complete all the levels really! Graphics: The graphics are good but still pretty simple on curved edges, just all working in textured blocks, but the game does go up to a reasonable resolution. Game Play: The whole idea of this game is mostly just to kill everything then move onto the next level, so great fun! The levels slowly get a bit bigger, harder and more complicate through the episodes. The people you actually fight are a mix of types there is everything from humans to giant laver monsters! Weapons: The game sort of has the halfway stage of weapons between the old Doom and Doom 2 weapon set and the Quake II weapons, but still a good selection i.e. there is still the mighty BFG but instead of a chainsaw you get an axe! Which is unfortunately not carried on into Quake II. Multi-player: There is no really multi-player set up for Quake; it can be played over your office network or a serial link cable. If you want to play it over then net you have to use a game server such as GameSpy. Over All: Over all a great game of its time, it marked the start of the Quake series which has gone on to great things…
