Railroad tycoon II… another empire building strategy apart from this time it is on an iron road – much harder! Railroad tycoon involves you to think carefully and hard as you only have one chance at this game (You are only provided with enough starting capital to buy 1-2 engines and cargo cars, two stations and stand the losses you are bound to endure for a short period). The idea of the game is simple – dominate the world market and make lots of money all within 20-30 years, possible you may think. The costs look small but are craftily shown in K (times 1000 e.g. 30k is really 30,000) and you quickly run out of money.
To survive longer than 3-4 years on this game you need to get a massive and close customer base. Whether it is passengers or cargo you need it, the idea is simple if you have a steel mill look for a coal and iron mine as near as possible because you will get paid by the iron and coal mines for getting it to the steel mill. If there is a city nearby that requires any of what you have in your reach i.e. food, cattle, sheep, wood, paper then get it there and quick.
You are not limited to just that there is all for industry’s – primary, secondary and tertiary all waiting to be made profitable by you as you can even buy (in certain scenarios) those industry’s and make even more money.

The advantages to this game are long playability and depth as there are so many possibilities to chose from and to do. The disadvantages are complication and almost sheer impossibleness
