This review has also been posted on Ciao by me. Having just bought a new PC and being the computer geek that I am I decided that we needed a new game in the house. Visiting PC World is never fun, but there we found ourselves buying some virus stopper thing for said PC. Ah, I say to myself, I?ll just have a quick look at the games?? 30 minutes later and I appear at the checkout with virus thing and a copy of Railroad Tycoon 3. Now this isn?t the kind of game I would normally go for. Don?t get me wrong I like Sim games but the thought of controlling trains did put me off a little. RailRoad Tycoon III isn't just a game for trainspotters. So long as you're familiar with the fact that a locomotive pulls carriages down metal tracks, you have enough technical knowledge to have fun with this game. Like its predecessor, the bread and butter of RRT III is hauling cargos and passengers between towns for profit. This may not sound too enthralling, but it has the same empire-building appeal as any sim game. It's great to see all your little trains chugging up and down over bridges, through tunnels and finally reaching their destination and paying you a tasty profit.
