Advantages: don't have to go out in the cold to use your remote conntrolled car
Disadvantages: don't get the most fun of putting them together!
Acclaim's Remote Control car racing game takes the racing genre and turns it on it's head. Where you couldn't go before, there are now no limits. The robust vehicles tumble around all kinds of locations, impossible to break, using whatever tactics necessary to gain first place in the race. Remote control cars were just the coolest things back in their day. of course the batteries kept running out, the engine would give up once the tyres get the slightest hint of carpet and grown-ups would complain about the noise the whole thing mad, but it was still a good laugh. This brand new game brings back these memories for old timers while introducing a whole new world of racing to the young'ins. Even better, these RC's never break after falling off the kitchen table. Fans of Micro machines will find the scenario familiar, as it involves small cars racing each other around common household environments. The control is a bit over-responsive at times, especially if you try and treat these vehicles like you would the real things they're based on. For the most part it's either full-on acceleration or the remote controlled-equivalent of planting both feet on the brakes. Once you get past that obstacle the action gets pretty good, with lots of CPU-driven remote control cars bouncing around all over the place and providing a decent challenge. On decent hardware, Re-Volt looks very impressive, with detailed models and realistic backgrounds whizzing about. If you like your racing games a bit different then this can't be missed.
