      good cos its free

      rf online is a mmorpg which is free to play. once you download the client (which is also free) you can join up on one of the 3 sides, and play along in the constant war that is going on between the factions. the game is split up into 3 factions each with their oown looks classes and benefits. the game itself is well designed with good graphics and some good missions. although when i was starting up in the game i found it rather difficult as i was one of a few lower level players and there was not many other ppl around except for higher level player who where not really helpful in teaching me the basics of the game, but hey as the game progresses more areas to explore and more weapons and armour become available for the charter to wear. once your character is of high enough level you can go and fight in player versus player combat for the control of certain assets such as a mining planet your players from your side can mine for ore and such there. all in all a good free gaming experiance

      Very helpful

      Great game, especially for free. give it a go!

      Rising Force Online.

      Rising Force Online is a massivly multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) currently under the release of CCR. The game has a lot of history behind it with quite a few different releases so it can be quite confusing. Let me set the story straight;

      RF Online originally started in Korea by CCR and they had their own servers which were not open to Europe or the USA. They then sold a contract in 2006 to CodeMasters who released the game to the UK. This is where things started to go bad for RF Online as personally I think Codemasters were clueless when it comes to MMORPGs. They had set the experience rate (how fast you level up) to a rediculous level and players were taking days to earn less than one level, some even struggling to make a few percent of a level in an entire day! It was really that bad. In late 2008 Codemasters had lost practically all of their customer base and closed the servers for good.

      In early 2009, CCR decided to have another go at releasing Rising Force online for the UK/USA market and released two new servers. These were totally free to play and free to download, unlike the Codemasters version which you had to actually buy in the shops. This time it was better, the experience rates were increased dramatically and you can actually hit the maximum level within one to two months of playing which isn't too bad for a Korean MMORPG, as they're known for their grinding (hard leveling).

      So what does the game involve? What's it about?

      Rising Force online is an online depiction of a futuristic war set between three races, all battling it out for survival and ownership of the all important Crag Mining facility which is at the centre of the world. The three races are all extremly unique and have their own classes, spells, looks and weaponary. Here are the three races we have in RF Online:

      The Bellato: These are small humanoid characters which specialise in building and the economy. Their special racial skill is their 'Driver' classes which enable them to 'drive' a massive mechanical robot which then does their bidding. These are called MAUs and come in a range of different colours and have a range of weaponary, ranging from spikes for melee, flame throwers and gattlin guns.

      The Cora: The Cora are the mystical race, discended from Elves they possess the powers to harness natural energy and spiritualistic power from the earth and use it for destruction. Their special racial ability is called Animus, they can summon mystical spirits to fight along side them, each with their own unique abilities. For example, you have Isis which is a damage dealing animus, hell bent on killing anything in her path, or you could switch to Ianna who will lay its life upon the line to save yours.

      The Accretians: The Accretians are futuristic robots, once who were humanoid and inhabited the planet Novus. They spent a lot of time developing exo-suits to make them into super soldiers and everything for them is now mechanical. Their special racial features is the Launcher. These are -massive- rocket launchers that are capable of extremly high damage but with a slow reload feature so they have a flaw. They can also use seige kits which fuse their robot bodies to the ground and let them fire their launchers much faster, at the cost of giving up their mobility.

      All three races are very unique and this is portrayed very well in RF Online.

      The game is centrered around Player vs Player combat rather than the typical Player Vs Environment (Non player controlled monsters) and has a Chip-war every 8 hours. This is a large war within the Crag Mine area to battle for control. Each race has its own chip and it must be defended at all costs. The first race to loose its chip will give up control and the victors will then claim the mine for the next 8 hours, giving them the ability to mine and gain money and weapon upgrades, pushing them even higher and making them stronger.

      The only downfall to RF Online is the grinding (hard leveling) which can take a little while to do, but its worth it in the end. Massive chip war battles of 100 players a side are mind blowing and the graphics are extremly good for something that is now free. It costs nothing to download, nothing to subscribe to monthly and the optional ability to put real money into the cash shop in return for items that help you level and such although its completly optional.
