Advantages: Well designed

Disadvantages: It'll eat your life and make you pop blood vessels in your eyes

The creepiest thing about Riven and its predecessor, Myst, is that the world is uninhabited. You half expect a ghoulie to jump out at you Doom-style. The slightest movements (butterflies in the distance) cause you to turn and look at an otherwise empty path. The puzzles are fiendish (even more so than Myst) and the environment strangely beautiful in an austere way.

Thank the lord that we now have a well-developed internet to look up walkthroughs and hints and tips (not saying that I use them). However, I hope that this doesn’t get marketed to death like the original did (did anyone actually buy PYST or the book?) I haven’t yet reached the end of Riven, but I hope it doesn’t end like Myst, leaving me wondering what was in the other book!
