I got this game when it first came out in November 2004 and couldn't wait to get home to play it... As soon as I got home I installed it and started playing it and since 2004 I haven't been able to not want to go on it every now and then.
There are a few minimum requirements that your computer needs have in order to play the game:
- a good processor
-128mb RAM (256mb xp)
-600mb hard drive space
- and a graphics card with at least 32mb of memory or 64mb
I find that the graphics rating that is on there is misleading although they may say that you can use a graphics card of 32mb and the game will run, this just isn't the case or at least the game might run for a certain amount of time and then there will be too many rides/stalls/people in the game and it just eventually crashes.
The game offers two modes :
*Sandbox mode* is where you have an unlimited amount of cash and your park is just a default one and you can do what you want with it (providing you stay in the boundaries of land, height of coaster etc.)
Basically this mode is just for people who want to create their own theme park that looks great with a vaste range of attractions without the thought of running out of money or needing to give money back to "the bank"
*Career mode* has 18 campaigns into which each is squeezed three levels (in each campaign) :
There are three campaigns at the end which require you to reach at least one of the levels in the beginning 15 campaigns, so for instance the third to last campaign requires you to reach apprentice in all previous levels the 2nd to last entrepreneur in all previous levels and the last tycoon in all previous levels.
In these campaigns you have a certain amount of criteria you must complete in order to obtain *Apprentice, Entrepreneur, Tycoon* most of the time it's getting so many people in your park, making a long rollercoaster, or simply having a VIP be happy in your park. Yes in RCT3 VIP's come to your parks...
When playing career campaigns and sucessfully unlocking the levels you unlock coaster that have already been designed for use in the sandbox mode
The big come back for RCT3 is that you are able to ride your rides, which in previous versions wasn't the case and the 3D enabled park.
Another feature is the auto-complete for coasters, say for instance you have built a rollercoaster and basically not that far off the finish, all you have to do is click auto-complete and the game finishes it for and finds the easiest route to connect the coaster to it's end.
I've been a fan of RCT ever since it came out and this game just put the cherry on the cake. I would definately recommend this game, although a good computer is required if you want to play it smoothly and for a long length of time.
I have long been a fan of the first Rollercoaster Tycoon and have long since played it to death, I then forgot about the series with the second installment passing me by completely. Recently I was looking for something to use my DooYoo Miles on, when I came accross RCT3. So I snapped it up nice and cheap (about £3 second hand) and have been addicted ever since.
As you may have already worked out, RCT3 sees you opening, operating and maintaining your own theme park. Fans of the series will be pleased to hear that the graphics have been dramatically improved and are now really rather impressive.
There are two game types, Sandbox which gives you a huge park with all rides unlocked and infinate cash and the brilliant career mode. Career mode is divided into 18 scenarios, each scenario presents you with a different park, each with three increasingly difficult sets of objectives. Complete the first tier of objectives to gain access to the second and then on to the third. Objectives range from impressing a vip guest to building a certain number of rollercoasters with a lowest excitement rating of X.
Rollercoaster design is a big part of the game and is executed brilliantly. It's easy to start building huge intricate coasters and theres even an option to have the computer complete your track for you. This is incredibly useful if you've gone a bit wrong and can't work out how to complete the rollercoaster's circuit. If you don' fancy building your own you can just use one of the prebuilt tracks or even import tracks in from the saved games of the previous titles.
Rides are split into categories, thrill, gentle, kids, water, coasters and the mysteriously sounding Other rides and attractions. Then of course you've got the option to build shops, stalls and various scenic improvements.
To unlock further rides/attractions, you must research them. A maximum of $500 can be assigned to research, with little sliders next to each category to represent the % of money going towards each ride group.
All these features add up to a really addictive game, although unfortunately not one without it's downsides.
The most obvious short fall I've noticed is that even if you pour all your research into one category (say gentle rides) your next few new rides might be from any of the other categories. Seemingly you have no actual control over research at all with the game deciding what it will and will not research next.
This is really the only major annoyance and it is largely offset by the games hundreds of little touches and tweaks. There are many, many rides and attractions for each of the games 18 park scenarios to keep you buisy. You can even jump into the seat of any ride in the park (including custom built ones) and the graphics stay sharp.
The game will most obviously be compared with Theme Park World, in my opinion there is abasolutely no contest, RCT3 wins effortlessly in absolutely every respect.
I can't reccoment it enough, it's fun, addictive and theres plenty of unlockable rides, attractions and scenarios to keep you going.
Rollercoaster Tycoon3 offers an endless amount of fun for all ages. Its one of those games which can be played and played again for years. The diversity is so great that creating your park has ever been more enjoyable.
After loading up the game on your PC, there are several game-modes you are able to play from the beginning. These include 'sand-box' game - playing without any boundares or objectives, 'Career game' - Beginning with a pre-built park and helping to manage it to achieve set goals, custom senario - a senario you added, and tutorial scenarios - to help you understand the game. I found the sand-box game mode very entertaining. It will last for hours and what you can achieve within a theme park has HUGE potential.
After picking your game-mode you then enter the game and begin bulding your park (or adding to a pre-set park). Rollercoasters can be built from scratch, as well as park stores, roads, trains, trams, thrill rides, child rides, water rides and sky-diving rides! The list goes on and on... and the best thing is theres no boundary (when playing sand-box mode) to your creativity!
The graphics have greatly improved since the last version of this game. It's 3D and it looks fantastic... With changing light from day to night, and even self-designed fire-work shows, the game simply looks awesome! The rides look great as they shoot round the park at high speed and there is minimal lag in this game requiring you have a decent PC specification.
A fine game for ALL ages, one which I shall continue playing until something better comes along and replaces it... if that ever happens! I genuinly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys the idea of theme-park construction in a fun and hastle-free environment.
Thanks for reading.
Roller coaster tycoon 3 follows the main outline of roller coaster tycoons 1+2. You are the owner of a theme park and you have to create rides and attractions to get you more money, to enable you to build more attractions. This is another EXTREMELY addictive sim game; as always completely pointless but you just can't stop playing them.
Some advantages of these over the previous games are in the graphics and the career mode.
The graphics are far better than in previous games although on older computers this can be more of a disadvantage.
The career mode gives it more of a usual game although draws it away slightly from the traditional simulation game format. To be honest it's a bit of a mish-mash between the two game formats which can be quite confusing and makes it slightly less enjoyable than previous games.
An advantage of this game is the on ride camera view, where you can experience the ride you have just built.
I think that this is a very good game, but not really better enough than the other games to justify buying another game,
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is a pc exclusive and is the sequel to Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. Rollercoaster tycoon is a sandbox game where you can build and create a thempark, from teraforming the land to making the rollercoasters, you can do it all. Rollercoaster tycoon 3 has a Campaign mode where you must do missions on various theme parks, to progress through the campaign. In each level there are 3 objective classes, each varying in difficulty. Rollercoaster tycoon 3 also allows you to make your own scenarios for you or other people to play, where you can set the objectives and set the unlocks. There is also a sandbox mode where you can build a themepark with an unlimited amount of money. In rolercoaster tycoon 3, the difference is when youve made a rollercoaster, you can ride it in a first person view which i think is personally a great feature. In rollercoaster tycoon 3 you can also make fireworks shows using the mixmaster and set them to music.
Overall i would say, if you can find this game cheap get it, its fun and will run on a low spec computer.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 is a simulation game that lets you build and control your own theme park from the comfort of your home computer. This is the third game in the series and is without doubt the best, offering a massive range of new rides, overhauled graphics, and new features.
You are in complete control of every little detail. From choosing the rides you want to build, to designing and building your own custom coasters, to managing your staff, choosing advertisement campaigns, keeping up with maintenance, and so fourth. At your command is a immense selection of roller coasters (steel, wooden, suspended, and water,) junior rides, thrill rides, water rides, gentle rides, transport rides, a range of shops and facilities (such as first aid and toilets) and various other rides and attractions. Also available is a wide selection of scenery. Not to forget the brilliant "Fireworks MixMaster" where you can create a stunning firework display synchronized to the music (even your own music if you so desire). You've also got research to 'invent' new rides. The list goes on and on, as there is so much that can be done within the game.
There are a variety of modes for you to choose from. These are tutorial, career, sandbox (a game with no money worries) or custom scenario. The career mode is perhaps the most playable as you advance through various scenario objectives before unlocking and getting the chance to play the latter and more difficult levels.
There's a peep designer (that's rollercoaster tycoon talk for person), a coaster designer and a building designer. The peeps now visit your park in 'family groups' and all have individual tastes when it comes to preferred rides. You can even recreate your own family in the peep editor, which was fun to do.
The graphics really are stunning and very streamlined. You can zoom right in to see the details of your park. They have serious been overhauled, and are a vast improvement on the previous two versions. Night mode is simply stunning to say the least, especially at high quality graphics settings. Normally when a game offers both day and night (such as SimCity), I'll stick to day mode, but in this case night mode really looks amazing, with all your rides and paths lit up with neon effects. I hate to keep going on about the graphics but they really are brilliant. Even watching the trees sway in the wind and watching the reflections in the water, is breath taking.
The CoasterCam is great, as it lets you ride your roller coasters and other park attractions. There is a certain satisfaction in taking the time to build you own ride, being able to ride it, and then watching the peeps in your park ride it, and see what they think of it.
One thing to mention is that you can not build underground like you could in the previous versions of the game, you have to download the update patch which will correct this. While the game interface is well laid out giving you control of everything, it can seem a bit complex if you are not familiar with the RollerCoaster Tycoon world.
There are two expansion packs (to date) for RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, these are called "Soaked!" and "Wild!" You can buy the game by itself and have a great time playing it, or you can buy these expansion packs (either separately or bundled with the game) and enjoy even more water rides, coasters, and even animal enclosures. There is also an online community when fellow players can exchange new roller coasters they've designed.
I should point out that it was cheaper for me (at the time) to buy the standard game and then the two expansion packs, than it was to buy the "Deluxe" edition which included them.
There are a few elements such as designing rollercoasters where the learning curve may seem a bit steep. Trying to work out how to do all of those corkscrews, half loops, etc, while still building a fun ride, can seem a bit difficult, but with some time (and with the help of the tutorial) you'll pick it up and it really will be worth it.
Overall, the game is very playable and enjoyable. If you liked the previous RollerCoaster Tycoon games, then you'll love this one as it is a vast improvement, and if you didn't like them, you may still like this one for the same reason. A game for all ages that will provide hours of fun.
(I'm a reviewer on Amazon, and some my reviews are copied from there to dooyoo. Please feel free to check out my Amazon profile under my real name of Mr Andrew M Kerr.)
In this game you can go on sand box mode and build a park from scratch or go on the main menu and start from a half built park
This game is very addicting for the first two weeks as you tired of deciding on whether to sell candy floss for £2.00 or £3.00 or if I should put a lot of ketchup on the hot dogs or if I should let them decide.
at once you have built the roller coaster you get to test them and sit in the passenger seats while the roller coaster does its stuff also I had great fun going to a real life theme park and bring back the map and trying to build that park on the game.
the game has some average graphics and the game play is pretty fun making your perfect park and some wacky rides I found this game quite addicting but as I said it got a little boring also I have the soaked add-on which is also pretty fun but only allows you to make a swimming pool and a few other ride.
This is the last installment of the popular rollercoaster tycoon series, and it is by far the best; the big difference being that the game is now in 3D and you can 'ride' your new creations.
The game itself finishes what Theme Park started all those moons ago. It is a 'sim' type game where you build a park, often from scratch but sometimes from a barebones park, and hit targets for each scenario usually by making money, attracting visitors, increasing the park's rating or by having certain rollercoasters. To a certain extent you either like this kind of game or loathe it; I love them!
There are two expansion packs for the game; 'soaked' which adds the capacity to build pool complexes and waterslides, and 'wild' which introduces animal parks. In addition both introduce new rollercoasters and flat rides for you to place in your parks. I have both and they do add considerably to the game play.
It is a good value, fun game with all kinds of extra features such as adding your own music to a ride or creating your own 'guest's to visit the park.
I have a deep appreciation for the game, starting from the original and working my way up. I have both expansion packs for the game and I love to make use of them. The games graphics have improved twice over and the game has gotten actually challenging. This game is way cool. You can actually watch the rides like you were in one of the seats (any seat!) and the people are much more complex then the original and 2. This is the best by far, of course. I can't wait to see what they come up with next. I will be in line waiting to buy the next one the day it comes out. I am now a faithful follower of RCT!
This is a review for the platinum edition, which includes both the Wild, and Soaked expansion packs.
The Rollercoaster Tycoon range is a management simulation of a theme park, keeping your little peeps happy by building new rollercoasters, keeping them fed, and employing staff to make the theme park so much nicer.
The interface gives you control over terrain, pathways, rollercoaster design, shop and facilities placement. You only have a limited supply of rides available to start, but putting money into research opens up new attractions.
Peeps (visitors to the park) have different tastes with regards to their ride choices, and how people feel after a ride is reflected in their actions following. You can monitor how people feel within the park, and what their current actions are. Lots of peeps thinking they are hungry shows a need for more food vendors. Others feeling sickly may suggest that a ride is too intense, or that the toppings on a beveridge are incorrect for those particular peeps. It's a fine balancing act to keep everyone happy.
Whats new in Rollercoaster Tycoon 3:
Atari introduced a number of new features, the ability to ride the rollercoaster you have just built being the main one for me. Having played the earlier games, wishing I could try the rides, I was so happy to see that this was in this addition.
You can now create fireworks and fountain displays, synchonised to music, using the MixMaster function.
You can also apply advertisement boards which, if connected to the internet, update with different sponsors. There has been a lot of discussion whether this is morally right, you pay for a game and then have advertisments shown to you also. I myself don't mind, but others may not be happy.
Whats new in the expansion packs:
"Soaked" introduces a lot of new water based rides, and the ability to create a swimming pool, with wave machines, whirlpool spas, and sun loungers. This proved quite popular with my peeps.
"Wild" allows you to create animal enclosures, and viewing galleries so that your peeps can look at chimps, elephants and the like. They need a bit of space but the viewing galleries prove to be popular.
In summary, if you liked the earlier incarnations of this franchise, you'll love the third installment. If you like management sims, you will love this game as well. I have lost many hours with the earlier games, and now losing more with this one.
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is the best rollercoaster tycoon yet.
The game has many new items, the park can be cutomized down to the most unique details, and you can design rollercoasters and then get to ride them.
there are loads of new rides and if you get the expansion packs, i have the Soaked one then you can build huge water parks, i would recommend this to anyone who likes these line of games.
one downside is you can't just pick it up and play, it takes a while to understand the icons and controls used in the game
This is a review on the game Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, it is the newest instalment to the rollercoaster tycoon franchise, and yet it is its best. The game has many new functions, many new features and defiantly loads more rides for you to play with.
There are many new rides for you to have fun with, loads more shops and benches and all that stuff. You can get a fire work show, which you custom design yourself, and can add music to the background of it. Speaking of music, on this game you can upload your own MP3 music, or WMV music, to have on the game, so say you have a U2 album, and then you could make a U2 park lol, same with any kind of music. The game has its own music, which is different to Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 and the original first one. There is also another really good feature, which is Day and Night, yes, you can actually go into the Night, and it looks excellent, it gives you more reason to get lamp posts now, it looks really awesome when it dark, because you rides light up all like neon, really out there.
You will find also there are many different controls, as you might have known; this game is in full 3D, so there will be different ways to pan around the park. You hold the 2 mouse buttons down, and then move it side to side to swerve around your park. It looks really cool in 3D, just looks, well real! Another good new feature, which is the coaster cam, you might know this from Theme Park, and Theme Park World, well this is better. You are able to go on the ride yourself, get to ride your rollercoasters, and get to ride practically anything you want. Very good if you just want to have fun, and mess around with your mates.
In Campaign Mode, you will be doing the parks with money, and the pressure will be on. You will have to complete the objectives to complete the park. Each park has its own objectives that have to be done. You will not have every ride for you to play with at start, you will have to research most of them, and then some you just wont be able to get because the ride might not be useful with the theme of the park you are on. Every park has its own theme, its own scenery, and scenery that you can place. Everything will cost money, sometimes the objective is to get so much of a park rating, or get so many guests into your park.
You can get guests into your park by buying new things, having the park entrance fee low. By advertising your park, which can cost a lot of money, but it is well worth it. The park has much different type of guests; you get the adults, the children, and then the teenagers. Makes the game seam much more real. Sand Box mode allows you to create a park without worrying about your money, you will have unlimited money with this, and pretty much make a park for fun, no objectives to do, just to have fun and create the best park you can. Thats all I can say about this.
You will be able to create your own family in this game, so that they will come to your park, and you will know whom they are. You will be able to choose how many will be in the family, what would they be, like would they be all teenagers and a single mother, or parents with one child, or really whatever you want. You will be able to choose what type of shirt they should wear, and trousers / shorts, can be quite fun to do many of these.
You are able to design your own park, create the park layout with ease, then able to add rides for free, so when you start to play the park, you will have rides on the map already, with guests even if you choose to. There are many things you can do to design your park, you can choose the ground, will it be dirt, will it be grass, or alien ground, anything thats there you can do. You will be able to put scenery down also, like trees, shrubs, towers, houses, to make your park look better.
But before you can do all that, you will have to set out how big you want your park to be, how much land you will start off with before you have to buy more, this makes the park more challenging. But there is something else even before that, which is you to put in what rides you will be able to have and research for this park, which is the first thing you do. After you have done all the designing, it will ask you what are the objectives of this park, and what to call it, with a description and all that. Also to set what time the park opens and closes.
Now you have designed your own park, play it under Sand Box Mode or Campaign Mode. This game is created by Hasbro, who have created the other Rollercoaster Tycoon games and loads of other game, very good game creators, make the best things!
The game is very playable, keeps you on your toes, and keeps up the whole strategy aspect in the Campaign mode, there are many other things you can do, new features which makes the game much better to play. The game is very addictive, once youve started, you will want to finish. Making rollercoasters, and if you cant finish the rollercoaster, there is something that makes the computer finish the rollercoaster for you. Very addictive indeed.
This game is fairly original, as there are loads of theme park games out there, but it is more original because it is the first that has been done in 3D, and with all these new features. The graphics for this game is awesome, you can zoom right in so you can see the people properly, and they look really detailed, the rides have all the details you will need, and it looks like the ones you see at parks when you go yourself.
The music is great, and also you can upload you MP3s and WMV music files, to give your park its own originality. The voices in this game are not bad, you hear the mumbling of the people, and you hear the screams coming from them when they fall down a rollercoaster slope. The sounds affects are also really good; you get the flushing of the toilets, the noise of the movement of rides, the noise of knowing your getting money!
The game is not really difficult, then its not easy, you might need to go through the tutorial to help you know how to play the game. Some of the parks are hard to do, as you will need to do so many objectives within so many years (there years are shorter then ours, so dont worry).
The game is great value for money, its around £10 - £25 now, you might find it for cheaper or dearer, but thats around the prices it will be. I give this game 4 star * * * *, because I love all the new features, and it has so much more that you can do, more rides, the coaster cam, just everything is better on this game to the others.
Thanks For Reading!
Just Amain if they was a game which had good graphic like rollercoaster 2 and the riding of attactions like on them park world. You will love roller coaster 3. This game will blasted you away with is graphic and fun. I was playing for 3hrs and i was still finding new things to play on or explore. One new thing that has not been on rollercoaster 1+2 is the firework plan and the fact you can emport your music
I bought Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 about a month ago, and I have struggled to get off it. For those of you who have played any of the tycoons before, this is one of the best ones yet. With the stunning graphics and the all new features, such as Coaster Cam and the Fireworks Mixmaster, the game is incredible. Although I bought it a year after it was released, for £15, it seems very out of place in time as it is similar in graphics to some of the latest games. The game features the ability to create your own guests, your own fireworks displays and even ride your own rides! This game is an exellent buy, especially if you are interested in the tycoon series.
The rollercoaster tycoon series is by far the most popular 'theme park style' game ever made. The first rollercoaster tycoon game featured people that scream at rides and make decisions to enter rides and carry their own amount of cash which was revolutionairy at the time. The newest addition to this series 'Rollercoaster Tycoon 3' has taken this to a whole new level. The second game in the series was only slightly improved from the first one and was more of an add-on than a whole new game. This game is almost completely enhanced in every aspect, the most noticable are the graphics.
The Graphics of the rollercoasters amd scenery is amazing. The relection of the water and the details of the attractions makes the game look stunning and rendered in 3d lets you able to view them from all angles. The newly added 'Coaster cam' is very clever and actually lets you view your rollercoaster in action. From the view of the rollercoaster you can also see the rest of your park and the background scenery of the area. The only qualm i had with the visuals was because the graphics of the people is quite poor and they look like characters from an old 3d pc game and are very 'blocky', also the background scenery is obvious that it is flat and lacks any design detail. Other than these few flaws the graphics make the game seem stunning, a huge difference from the first two in the series.
The game features many styles of music from gentle summer style music to rock style music which you can add to your rollercoaster. You can also hear the people scream as they travel down a steep drop on a rollercoaster or are on a frightening thrill ride which adds a sense of reality to the game. There is also a feature which lets you add your own music to the game, so as long as you have music on your computer the music choices are endless.
The gameplay of the game is even better than the first two. The 'fun' factor of the first game is amazing and this game is made even better with little extras that would have annoyed you about the first game. Things like being able to select a button that automatically finishes off rides for you, the entrance of the queue path not attaching itself to the first path it meets and better shop management make this game feel more complete than the first two.
The great thing about the rollercoaster tycoon series is that you don't really need to follow the story or complete the missions. You can just stay on the first level and keep adding rides and attractions until it is as good as any theme park in the world and with the added sandbox mode you can create theme parks with no money restrictions and with every ride and attraction in the game. When you have finished playing with the game in sandbox mode then you can enter the career mode which is much more challenging and longer than in the first games. There are many levels and each level has three challenges at different levels, also the challenges are more varied, on one level you must build a rollercoaster over a certain height and on another you must have a rollercoaster that makes over a certain amount a week, this all addding to the fun factor and replay value of the game.
The game has been improved so much more than the first two that if you enjoyed them then this is a must have. This game is perfect for people who like any of the other tycoon games or like other rollercoaster titles e.g. 'Theme park' and is much better than all of them. The trouble with getting this game is the requirements are much higher than the first two in the series or any other tycoon game because of the increased graphics but anyone who has bought a computer within the last 2-3 years should be fine.
