Sam and Max Hit The Road is an adventure game on the PC released by Lucas Arts way back in 1993. It was re-released in 2002 so it was compatible with newer computers. Based on the 1989 Sam & Max comic On the Road, the duo take the case of a missing bigfoot from a nearby carnival, travelling to many Americana tourist sites to solve the mystery. The game is based on the comic characters of Sam and Max, the "Freelance Police", an anthropomorphic dog and in his own words, a"hyperkinetic rabbity thing". So as you can see, the game is pretty wacky, quite surreal but a whole load of fun. Firstly I should point out the game I was ... Read the complete review

1993 was a damn good year for adventure games, particularly humorous adventure games! In the lull between Monkey Island games LucasArts released this twisted piece of genius, a game based upon an irreverent, politically incorrect comic by Steve Purcell. The two title characters are Sam ‘canus shamus’, a big ol’ dog policeman wannabee and his sidekick Sam...a naked hyperactive bunny with an attitude problem. Sam and Max are private detectives, they dress like them(well Sam does, Max is kinda in the buff), they have spraypainted their car to look like a 50s squad car and they’re on a case right now - to hunt down a missing Sasquatch! Yup, ... Read the complete review

This game is one of Lucasarts best! Lucasarts made it's name in the computer game from either star wars based games, space battle games, or my personal favourites, the brilliant point-and-click games! Sam and Max is a classic, and will always be. Sam and Max isnt your run-of-the-mill point-and-click adventure, due to it magnificant Lucasarts creativity and humour. It matches the Monkey Island series in sheer brilliance and humour, and Day of the Tenetacle in it's abscureness! Throughout the game, the comical humour of the two main character's adventures will have you in tears of laughter. It is the only game that i know of, to have made me ... Read the complete review

I purchased this game after becoming hooked on toonstruck and being desperate for a similar game. Sam and Max are self styled private investigators and the game won praise for its graphics and humour. Several people I know complained about the ease of the puzzles and how repetitive they were, it depends what sort of game you are after, wether you would like difficult puzzles or not. When you play the game you take on the role of sam and help solve his mysteries using a point and click style interface. Due tot he nature of the game, as its set in a cartoon it can be very unrealistic and therefore you have t use crazy means to solve the puzzles. To me this just adds to the ...
