Advantages: Realistic-looking, start to trade with other cities

Disadvantages: urban decay can turn your city brown, some tasks repetitive

A pretty classic game, a welcome improvement on the Sim City model. The graphics are significantly better than previous versions of the game, the buildings look a bit less cartoonish (in the main). One of the most pleasing aspects of this version was the fact that your city is no longer in glorious isolation - the connections you have to neighbouring cities are an important part of developing and sustaining your own city, and you can trade power, electricity and even waste with them!

There are only two things i found frustrating about the game. The first is the idea of urban decay - for totally random reasons (let's say you are fast forwarding the game and a water pipe breaks) then your city can plunge into decay, turning the whole place into a shabby mess that takes ages to get out of. The other is that there is no way to automate what become pretty mundane tasks, like laying those same water pipes underground.

Summary: Sim City starts to move closer to reality
