SimCity 2000 (PC)

Description: Manufacturer: Electronic Arts / Genre: Simulation / The ultimate city simulator, SimCity 2000 lets you design, build, ... more
SimCity 2000 (PC) ... and customize any city you can imagine. This innovative game allows you to bring life to your own personal city and its residents. Based on the phenomenally successful SimCity, you're given a plot of barren land that can be zoned into industrial, residential, and commercial areas. As your city grows, you must deal with crime, education, and health issues through strategic placement of police stations, schools, and hospitals. Manage traffic, the budget, and the needs of your constituents--or face riots, ridicule in the press, and eventual impeachment!

There is also area to implement public transportation through bus depots, railways and subways (tube). It is a single player game but there have been known customizations where players can engage in cooperative play over the Internet. I am not sure if this is still in use but it was known was "SimCity 2000: Network Edition". Gameplay pres...more

Premium Review Looking back: SimCity 2000 (PC) (701 words)

SimCity 2000 is a construction simulation game released to the personal computer in 1994 by Maxis Software. It is a part of a long standing series of the same name, but makes marked improvements of the former titles. Its system requirements are billed as needing a 486SX processor, 8 MB RAM and 21 MB of available hard disk space. I have tested the game as operable under Microsoft Windows XP, but there did appear to be a noticeable time lag when moving the mouse which hinders gameplay exceptionally. It is therefore recommended that, for modern play, a player use the MS-DOS mode through an emulation program such as "DOSBox" which has been tested as compatible ...  Read the complete review

This game is great. I hate to say this coz I have just writen my opinion on GTA and said the graphics held it back, but even though this game has poor poor graphics...I can't help but love it. For those of you whom are not accustem to the concept of the SimCity games...here it is. You are the owner, land lord, major...what ever...of the city and you say what gos where and about taxes, everything but who comes into your city. This is decided on how well you plan your city. There are more complicated bits about it which are inconsiquential which I wont go into. It is played from a birds eye view of your city. This game is great. Its adictive, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review SimCity 2000 (PC): The original God game (140 words)

Looking a bit dated now, and without all the features of SC3000, Sim City 2000 is rightly seen as the classic town planning game. The Orginal SC was great, but this is the first time we see 3D cities, complete with all the advances this can bring to a game. In case you don't know, the aim is to build your city up from zilch, planning different zones (commerical, residential or industrial), putting in transport, water, electricity, and all the other necessities for a city. If you don't keep up your 'Sims' will get upset and start rioting, just one of the disasters which will befall you if you're not careful. SC2000 is highly ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Class is Forever (386 words)

When you talk about strategy games, god games and the like, you invariably mention the SimCity series. From the days of the Amiga, this series has kept itself going and the second "proper" version was SimCity 2000. Using new 3D graphics, SimCity 2000 was very much a make-or-break game for Maxis, the creators. There is no doubting the fact that the original SimCity was an excellent game, but the advent of super-speed PCs (with those lightning 100MHz Pentiums!) meant that games could offer both graphics and gameplay, hopefully in equal measures. The gauntlet had been laid down and SimCity 2000 certainly responded to the challenge. Using the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review SimCity 2000 (PC): Build your own utopia. (305 words)

Sim City gives you the chance to build and manage your very own city, starting from humble beginnings and ending with a vast metropolis. Sim City 2000 builds on the original both graphically and in terms of detail. You have a vast number of things to consider when building your city, transport, housing, industry, services, crime and every other detail which are an essential part of daily life. The better your city is the more people will ive there, the more money you'll make and then you can make your city better still. There's a lot that sounds tedious about Sim City 2000, how interesting is it to put in the water system? There's something very ...  Read the complete review
