All good adventure games seem to have a sequel these days, and Simon the Sorcerer is no exception. Unfortunately as it often happens, I didn't enjoy this game as much. ====About the Game==== As I've already said, this is an adventure game. For anyone who hasn't played the first one, Simon is a young boy who gets sucked into another dimension to help a wizard. The plot of this game is much the same. Simon's arch enemy Zordid, has come back to life and must be defeated again. As with most adventure game, you solve puzzles throughout the story. ====Game Play==== As expected, this has hours of play in it. Though ... Read the complete review

Two years after his first adventure Simon returns, the bank balance of LucasArts nicely padded thanks to their exploitation(his view of things) of him in the first game and since things had been quiet so long he was rather hoping hte game developers had had their fill of him and moved on to some other unsuspecting victim. Not so though. Two years down the line and now into teenage years Simon returns home(looking like he's just been to a headbangers ball) to find a rather large wardrobe dumped in his bedroom. Slightly miffed about people dumping junk in his room - you know, ironed clothes, his CDs and suchlike his sulks a bit before taking a look inside. Strangely ... Read the complete review

I really enjoy adventure games, and the trickier the better. Simon 2 is certainly tricky. It can be annoyingly tricky because there are things you have to do for which there are no hints at all, you just stumble upon the right thing by trying absolutely everything out of sheer desperation. However, I enjoy the frustration factor as much as I enjoy the puzzles that are logical (in a wierd Simon kind of way) to work out. I would reccomend playing Simon 1 first, a)to get the feel of how the twisted minds that invented the game work when it comes to puzzled solving, and b)because you meet alot of the same characters, and will not understand some of the little ... I have just (finally) completed Simon2, and have to admit I was a little stuck for a while! If you enjoy adventure games, Simon is a must. Some of what you need to do is easy to work out, although quite how you do it, is often another matter. Some of the puzzles are logical and straight forward, for some you just have to think like Simon, and others are pure chance that you do the right thing. I would reccomend playing Simon 1 first as some of the characters are the same, and also you will get a feel for how the puzzle solving works. This game will drive you bonkers, and make you play it compulsivley until you have finished it, then when you do, you will ... Read the complete review

I originally bought this as a combined package with Simon 1...and I got a free T-Shirt too! - (which daughter number 1 considers to be "kewl"!) I found the game to be very similar to it's predecessor, but slightly less compulsive. One really has to have played Simon 1 to appreciate some of the characters and humour, especially with the strange green Swampling. The first couple of sections are basically search for, and collect items which may be of use to you, and then once you have all that you could possibly require, you progress to the next stages. The use of, and interactions between, certain objects are sometimes at best, obscure, and ... Read the complete review
