Singles: Flirt Up Your Life! Sounds utterly crap, yes?Well that is exactly what I thought when I saw the crappy cover that has what looks like some old clip art pasted onto it, but instead I was pleasantly surprised, some might even say... aroused!!!LOL... What's the first thing I do once I get past the tutorial? Do I start decorating my trendy flat? NO. Do I start learning how to cook and clean? NO. Do I engage in friendly banter with the other flatmate? OH NO! NO I DON'T! What I have instantly do is have my characters undress and wander around their living space totally starkers! The girls have been given lovely assets and are all cleanly shaven!!! LOL. Nice! As a little something for the ladies the lads in the game have been blessed too, one has a member that goes down to his knee, another has a more petite winky for those girls who either blush or feel faint at the size of some. However, they won't stay naked for long before realizing they have a guest in the house and run off in embarrassment to get dressed. Depending on your state of mind you may see this game in the following ways. One, you may be totally offended by the sexual content (Personally, it didn't bother me). Two, you might be offended by the fact it's a shameless rip off of The Sims and uses a shockingly similar graphics engine to the console versions (Singles also has its own version of Sim Speak which is again another rip off). Thirdly you accept it, then have to sit back and re-asses EVERYTHING in your life up to the point where you are thinking "I have to get these characters to have sex!" That my friends is the basic goal of this little beauty.
This game is basically an even more boring version of the sims filled with random gratuitous sex options. Why anyone thought it would be a good idea to create this I really don't know. There's not much to do in the game aside from the basics such as eating, sleeping etc. Unfortunately whereas the sims focuses on entertainment, singles focuses on relationships and instead of allowing your sims to go out on dates, explore new areas etc the only thing your sims end up doing in the end is hooking up. It's almost unavoidable. It's as if the developers were intent on making a game which revolved around sex but decided to dress it up as something else in an attempt to prevent most gamers from running a mile, at least until after they'd played it. There's not much to do and the game itself is pointless in my opinion unless you have some strange desire to spend your hours making sims have sex. Certainly one to avoid.
Have you ever played the Sims and thought, 'oo-er, I wouldn't mind if if my sims could get frisky with each other'? Well if you have, you are sad. However, the makers of 'Singles - flirt up your life' have seen you coming a mile away (no pun intended). Singles is, in a nutshell, a very poor version of the Sims. Apparently more geared towards 'adults' however, in Singles, we get to see boobs, bums and oversized male genitalia. What's more, if you try really hard, you can eventually build up a relationship between your characters, and they will eventually end up doing it'. The main premise of the game is to choose two characters (a male and a female, or two females, or two males) and move them into a flat together. Here you must keep the two characters happy by making sure that their appropriate 'bars' are full, each bar representing a different need of the character. Let their toilet bar hit rock bottom, and they are likely to soil themselves. To make the game advance however, you must find time to make the two characters interact and build up their relationship. As this is done, more erotic actions become available. Your game is finally completed when the relationship status reaches the highest point and the two singles turn into a couple. The problem with this game is that what is outlined above is the extent of the game. Although different furniture can be bought for the house to make it easier for the pair to relax, the options are few, and for anyone who is ever played the Sims in all its expansion pack glory, the game seems decidedly limited. The character animations and actions are also very limited, in fact the only real bonus I suppose this game has over the Sims is that you get to see the characters naked and the graphics are arguably better. For those who are looking for some sexual gratification from the game, I'm sure they will find other, much easier ways to satisfy themselves, which doesn't involve endless hours of sitting in front of a computer screen trying to develop a relationship between two computer people in a vain attempt to make them do something a little bit more erotic than they did last time. And in case you were wondering - no, you do not get to see the actual physical act of them performing sexual activities - merely shifting bedcovers and suspect murmers (well thats as far as I got anyway). This game ultimately becomes boring very quickly, and most will likely walk away feeling totally frustrated...
