... and depending more on luck than skill it depends whether or not you can complete the game. OK, this is one of the most annoying games in the world for two reasons: 1) You can't tell for ages if it's completable or not - you spend ten or so minutes fiddling around with cards, doing your best, only to find that particular deck is incompletable. I mean, this has nothing to do with your choices, and the deck knew it all along, but you've just wasted ten minutes not completing the game: great! 2) As well as often tak...more

Crowned Review Solitaire (PC): Corruption Rules! (1446 words)
by - written on 30/08/04 (Very useful, 151 readings)
Rating:

~ ~ What do you do when you're sat at your PC or laptop browsing around the web, (or even, God forbid, working!) and suddenly the onset of the dreaded boredom sets in? I'm sure you've all experienced it, even when it's not work related, and you're doing something as pleasurable as reading and rating reviews here at dooyoo or over at Ciao. Suddenly the old brain cells seem to go into neutral, and everything becomes an enormous strain that's simply not worth the effort. Well, if you're anything like the mad cabbie, then the remedy is simple. You simply click on the shortcut on your desktop that instantly takes you to the totally mindless, pointless, time wasting, and ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review There Is Water At The Bottom Of The Ocean (1996 words)

Ooh, did I tell you? I have a new computer. It's a laptop. I'm all excited. It's full of all the latest posh and clever things (not that I understand them at all mind you) and it's very pretty. It's purple. What with that and the super duper new broadband internet access via cable modem available chez Murphy (and the abundance of Easter Eggs in the house but sshh about them), I'm having a rather good time at the moment. There's just one problem: the mouse. Not the dead one that one of my hunter cats brought in as an offering, the one on my sexy, shiny new purple laptop. I can't get to grips with it at all. It's a touchpad mouse ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Solitaire (PC): The game where your part means nothing (303 words)
by - written on 30/11/09 (Very useful, 8 readings)
Rating:

This computer game comes with the Windows bundle. It was put in with windows to help people new to PCs get used to using a mouse, dragging and dropping and the like. Today it sits unwanted and rejected by most people, when only boredom (and a broken internet connection) will bring people back to it. It is not the purpose of this review to explain the rules of the game. Needless to say, it's a game where you stack cards up in numerical order, and depending more on luck than skill it depends whether or not you can complete the game. OK, this is one of the most annoying games in the world for two reasons: 1) You can't tell for ages if it's ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Solitaire (PC) (683 words)
by - written on 20/09/09 (Very useful, 40 readings)
Rating:

Solitaire is perhaps "the" original computer game for Windows. First released in 1990 with the Microsoft Windows 3.0 operating system, it has been included in each successor's distribution since then and has even been claimed "the most used application in Windows" by an employee at Microsoft. I was not able to immediately find an age rating but it is likely that this game would be found suitable for all ages. The history of Solitaire on Windows states that the game was intended to ease users into the new graphical interface of operating systems. Throughout computer technology prior to Windows, graphical interfaces were not well known. Many ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Solitaire (PC): MIND, HAND, EYE COORDINATION. (1337 words)

MIND, HAND, EYE COORDINATION. INTRODUCTION ============ Solitaire Game of Cards Be it Win95, Win98 or XP this card game with game folder on your start menu is sure to be setup with your windows setup disk. This is a game supplied by Microsoft, there is another game named Hearts, I don’t play complex joystick or other hardware intensive games on my computer, some games require a full dedicated computer for your games software. Bricks, Solitaire and Hearts is there in my work place computer; my high moment in this game is when I reached 14,458 in 51 seconds in a game draw of 3 cards. Another interesting game which can be played on computer ...  Read the complete review
