This review is about the game Sonic 3D, it is the first Sonic game to be in 3D. It first came out on the Games Console The Megadrive, and then when consoles got better, it was remade to suit them consoles. When Sega Saturn came out, it was remade for that console. Sonic 3D has many 3D adventures for you to interact around. You are only able to control Sonic, as he is the main character for this game.

Sonic gets to interact with Tails and Knuckles, if you are able to find them on the area you are, they are hidden somewhere, and when you have collected enough coins, go to one of them, and they take you to a special stage, where you are able to obtain a chaos emerald. When you are able to obtain all 7 chaos emeralds, and then complete the game, then you have fully completed it. The aim of the game is to collect flicky's (budgies) that are scattered around the level. There are two sections to each level, then it goes to the next chapter in the whole level area, there are 3 chapters in each area. The first chapter is the normal travelling to collect the 16 flicky's, then the second is the same but harder, and the 3rd is when you fight Dr Robotnic, in his Egg Machine.

If you don't know, Sonic is a blue hedgehog, who can run really really fast, he has loads of friends, like Tails which is a two tailed fox, and Knuckles, which is something I don't know, and he has a girl friend, or maybe not, called Amy, which is also a hedgehog which is Pink. Just letting people know about this if they did not know who Sonic was. In this game you do have mini robots that you need to fight in the game that is how you get flicky's, by destroying enemies that you find in your zone. There are 16 enemy robots in the 2 chapters in each area that need to be destroyed so you can collect the Flicky's.

When you have so many flicky's you can collect continues, as you will need that extra height, when you collect flicky's, they follow behind you, and so when you jump on a spring, you will be able to collect stuff higher then you regularly were able to do before so. There are many continues for you to collect in each chapter, so keep searching for them.

The game has 2 other features to it, you have music select, so you can listen to whatever music that you liked while playing the game. Then there is the option mode, which allows you to change the volume of music, the sound, change the language etc etc, the usual roughly.

The game is very playable; it's a great game to have loads of fun with the 3D atmosphere. There was one problem with this game though, for the Sega Megadrive and Sega Saturn version of it, you can not save, so that is a downer, but you would have to complete the game in one go, or you would have to start again.

The game was very enjoyable; each area of the island was completely different with its great music. It is fun to go around each area, having to destroy robots so you can collect your flicky companions. Very fun, very fun indeed. Keep trying to complete the game, and you will finally do it. The thing that makes the game even more fun is that it is easy to control, for each format of this game. The PC is like for every sonic games that are on there, it is very simple to use, better with a joystick though like most games for the PC.

The game is very original, as it was one of the first games ever to be in a 3D environment. The graphics of the game is great, it is very smooth, even though the game is 10 years old, for the PC version of the game, the graphics are the same as it was for the Sega Saturn, and it was practically a straight transfer.

There is no speaking in this game; it is all done in typing form, so you can read what they are saying. No speaking as it is an old game, and the resources for this were not around at this stage. The background music to the game is great, very entertaining, and enjoyable, not worthy for dancing though, unless I don't think so. The sound effects are good, with all the collecting the ring noises, the puffing of the destroying the robots noise, all good.

The game is not that difficult, but as all games, the further you get into it, the harder it gets, so beware. The game is great value for money, it only costs around £2 - £5 nowadays, and that's a great deal, but for me, I own it as an ROM for the Sega Megadrive Emulator I have. I will give this game a 3 star, as I have played better Sonic games since then, but it is still a good game all the same.
