Space Siege was the long awaited Sci-fi RPG by Chris Taylor, who brought us best sellers Dungeon Siege and Dungeon Siege II.
This time around, there will be no pack mule or large party to control, you're thrown into a similar environment, but without the fantasy magic and sparkle that you will be used to if you've played the other releases in the Siege series.
Other than not being responsible for a party, you are able to focus on upgrading your own abilities, such as cybernetic body armours and tweaking your character unlike in previous games from the series. The character build on Space Siege concentrates more on enhancements and 'tree building' systems, where you can add points to certain stats to increase powers in all manners of upgrades.
The game as you can imagine in a combination of different space ships and space hulks where you have set objectives and missions to complete in order to progress, which is broken up with various cinematic footage.
Due to the lack of in-game party members that we've grown accustomed to from the previous 'Siege releases, the good news is that you can battle alongside your friends in an online 4-player co-op mode.
If you live near a Game Station retail store, this game can be picked up for under £2! A total bargain!
You may be thinking "Oh, is this a new FPS or Shoot em,up?" Well no, it is a shoot em,up but with tactics? Yes you have to navigate yourself using the mouse clicking on the place you want to be, not only that you have to click on the enemy that you want to attack (With the option to free shoot using the ^Shift Key), this didn't appeal to me. The graphics are medium, you will find yourself getting annoyed with the camera because it gets in the way. The story isn't that much either you are a commander for a space ship, then aliens attack (end of story). To be honest I didn't enjoy this release, as I thought that the idea for a tactical fast paced punt at a shoot em, up was a stupid suggestion. If you ask me leave this one, aimed at the tactical players and RPG players, but to be honest I don't think that either will enjoy it.
A game of tactics, combat-heavy action, and decision making, Space Siege is an all-new science fiction themed action-RPG being developed by Chris Taylor and Gas Powered Games, the creators of Dungeon Siege I & II and Supreme Commander.
