Advantages: Millions of customisation options.
Disadvantages: Becomes boring over time.
I first played this game at the Leeds music festival, as it was set up in the EA tent as a demo. I was immediatley hooked and kept playing, even though a large queue had built up behind me - but I didn't care.
This game's player options are nearly endless, giving literally millions of different creature combinations. If you can think of it, you can make it on this game. The creatures are even animated and move about realistically.
After you have finished making your creature you can upload them to a central server which stores all of the creatures created by Spore users. Many hours can be spent looking at the best, and the very worst, of what people have managed to come up with. Although the game is a 3+, lots of the custom creatures aren't - which is to be expected when the general population of the internet get their hands on something so customisable.
Spore Creature Creator is brilliant fun but becomes boring over time. There's only so many times you can create wacky creatures without becoming bored, but it kept me entertained for a few days.
The monsters made in this game are intended to be used with the game Spore, where you advance lifeforms into the creatures you design here. Although the game is cheap enough, it will not last without the full version of Spore.
Try downloading the demo before you buy the Creature Creator, as it is essentially the whole game but with less body parts to choose from. If that takes your fancy then have a bash at the full thing.
Summary: Something new and entertaining. Try the demo before buying.
