Advantages: Interesting concept

Disadvantages: Not for everyone

The online genre of gameplaying has become more and more popular over the last few years, and every game manufacturer out there dreams of replicating the success of World of Warcraft. In September EA released SPORE, its newest online multi-genre game.

IT is roughly based on the "development" concept of Sims, but the difference here is that the player develops a species, beginning as a unicellular organism, and guides it through life to develop into a social creature, and eventually it can explore galaxies.

The worlds you encounter on your journey are filled with creatures made by other players, and it becomes a battle for survival of the fittest, but decisions and interactions you make in one phase can have an effect on your creature in the next phase.

You can move quite rapidly through the first few phases, to reach space level, but in my opinion they should have made that a bit more of an achievement to move from one level to another.I suppose the idea is that they want you to get to space, where the there is a total of 50,000 planets in the game's galaxy to explore and conquer.

I have had a few blips in connecting, and a few technical errors has occured, but then I am no PC pro, so I cant say whether it was to blame on EA or myself.

ALl in all it is a fairly fun game to play, but I just dont see myself get as hooked with this as I was with WOW, and it definitely is not for everyone.

Summary: A new online game, but will it be a massive hit?
