Star Trek Armada

If you are a Trekkie like me and you like the Command & Conquer games then this game will defiantly appeal to you!

It was weird for me actually, I was at home playing C&C Retaliation on the playstation, in a link game with one of my friends who also happens to be a trekkie. Well we were discussing how good it’d be, if there were a Star Trek game in the shape of a C&C game. Next thing I knew I was buying Star Trek Armada!
I’m not a person who goes out and buys all the PC mags just so I can see what games are due to come out….but I do pop into town and have a look around at the new releases in our local Electronics Boutique and MVC.
It just happened by chance that, I was having one of my “pop” in’s when I saw the game, and bought it immediately!

Well enough on how I got the game let me tell you a bit about the game it’s self.
Well to start with I must say that the opening video clip is GREAT! With a lot of space combat clips to ready you for the forth-coming battles.
Well the idea of the game is that u have to fight to try and decide which main power will rule the quadrant, it can be either

The Federation
The Klingon Empire
The Romulan Star Empire
The Borg

When u start a new game you will automatically be The Federation.
You will play about 4 missions being the Federation, then you’ll move onto the Kilngon missions and play another 4 missions, the u go on to the Romulans, then the Borg.
Once you have done all the main missions, 4 extra ones will appear.

What makes this game so great is that it has a superb game play. You are enable to build Starbases, and other buildings such as Ship yards, Torpedo Turrets and some special research labs, which allow you to build extra weapons for your Ships, i.e. there’s 1 weapon you can get as an extra which knocks out the enemy ships engines.
Aswell as having to try a
nd destroy the enemy, you also have to concentrate on Defenses for your base, and other space materials, such as Black Holes, and Nebulas (Some are harmful others can help in your mission), You also have to look for Dilthium Moons as these will be the source of your money to build extra ships etc.

The graphics during the actual play of the game are fantastic too! When one of your ships (or building) is being fired upon, then you actually see that there are shields up around the ship:
Green colour shields = Ship undamaged
Red colour shields = Ship Badly damaged

In the game you can also do things like transport people from one ship to an enemy ship and take it over! And you can do that to buildings too.
You are also able to play a skirmish, were u can play up to 8 other computer players, you can also play multiplayer over the net!

I have to say that this has to be one of the best Star Trek games I have ever played! I’m defiantly looking forward to getting Star Trek Armada 2!

If anyone else has got this game and has completed it could you please let me know what happens at the very end of the game, as when I completed it the game locked up and I have never been able to so the very end of the game.
