Advantages: Unrivalled player housing system, mining system and... Jedi!

Disadvantages: Dwindling population, overdue for a server merge, few people at low lvls.

SWG was and is a great mmo. They have completely captured the star wars universe from John Williams music down to weird and wonderful creatures that you can ride. The game has taken many different strides as sony were slow to react to the consumers demand for Jedi which was originally impossibly difficult to become. The game was originally very complex with ~25 different classes, alot were very minor variations on each other and all required you to gain xp in something specific to advance it i.e. one handed weapons. Nowadays the game is simplified to a straight levelling system once you pick the general profession that you want to follow. There is a lot of content to burn through from all of the expansions (included in TTE) and most people are unimaginably rich and willing to help a newbie player out.

SWG has a lot of novel ideas that are yet to be replicated by anyone else. Their player housing system is second to none with entire player built towns, every item worth anything is made by a person and mining is a highly complex and scientific activity that yields great rewards. No two resources (mined) are alike and it may be months before something you have is seen again on that server.

They've made every effort to capture the nuiances of Jedi life with light saber crafting depending on the quality of the materials and skill of the jedi and ofcourse the double ended lightsaber! Ofcourse if you hate Jedi then you can just become a bounty hunter.

Summary: Definitely worth experiencing even if you dont intend on sticking around
