... You have a core of available Force Powers that progress as you go throughout the game and advance from Jedi Student to fully-fledged Jedi Knight. There are also 4 Light Force Powers and 4 Dark Force Powers. Depending on which you focus one you will be told you are doing well, keeping a good balance, or veering dangerously towards the dark side of the force at various stages of the game. The development of your Force Powers is significantly simpler than character progression in your average RPG, but it provides a sat...more

Crowned Review Star Wars Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy (PC): You Must Learn, Young Padawan (3016 words)
by - written on 03/05/05 (Very useful, 786 readings)
Rating:

Jedi Academy is another instalment in the famous Jedi Knight series of games. Having played only demos of Jedi Knight and Mystery of the Sith previously and having liked both (particularly the latter), I approached the game with fairly high expectations. Did it meet up to those expectations? No. It surpassed them. Overview You play the role of Javin, a new Jedi trainee, one who obviously has huge potential as you are the first person ever to have actually made your own lightsaber without any formal Jedi training. While in transit to the Jedi Academy your transport ship is shot down, and before you even reach the academy it becomes ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Excellent Game (205 words)

Rating:

I've found myself playing this game a lot lately, it just rocks, plain and simple. I'd especially recommend this to someone who isn't into gorey, difficult first-person shooters. Whilst the single player game itself is wonderful, where this game excels has to be the Multiplayer game. There are various game types including Free For All, Capture the Flag and Siege (in which you work as a team to get to the enemy base etc). There are also a various number of guns, though the best part of the game has to be the Lightsabers. The controls are excellent, and it's easy to make a combo to call your own. There are also double-bladed and dual Lightsabers, as well as just having one ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Star Wars Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy (PC): An amazing game (142 words)

Some game engines never die... And in the four years since its apperance, the Quake III engine has be used in: Medal of Honor, Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Star Trek Elite Force II........... Jedi Knight Jedi Academy is the third instalment in the Jedi Knight series and, as you may have guessed, also uses the Quake III engine, but pushes it to a new level. In a departure from previous outings, you're no longer Kyle Katarn. You now play Jaden, a young wannabe Jedi who, light sabre in hand, is off to the Jedi Academy for some serious training. The game combines the traditional elements of a first-person shooter ultra violence and unfeasibly large weapons ...  Read the complete review

Express Review on Star Wars Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy (PC)
by - written on 24/09/03
Rating:

Academy for Jedi - Advantages: Whole new involving single player campaign., Ability to customize your character and create your own Jedi. You decide whether you want your jedi to be alien or human, male or female, what hair colour, face, lightsabre hilt, sabr colour etc., Through the single player campaign you can actually choose whether you want to be good or evil, you have tyhe choice and it actually affects the storyline and way you play the game. - Disadvantages: Graphics engine has not been updated, looks the same as the first., No revolutionary change to style of gameplay, it is pretty much more levels like Jedi Knight II, Multiplayer hasn't really been updated, there are a few more maps and the addition of having two lightsabre will add a little life to the idea.
