Advantages: Won't get bored of it for ages

Disadvantages: .

Starcraft is a game that I have been playing regularly for nearly three years now and I have yet to tire of it.

The thing that makes this game stand out from the rest of the Command and Conquer clones is the uniqueness of each of the three races that you can pick from; the bog-standard human side in the form of the Terrans, crusaders who go by the name of Protoss, and reptilian-ish looking people called the Zerg.

The original Starcraft game was tremendous, but installing the add-on pack, Broodwar, means that each side is now more balanced; there is no single 'weak' race as you find in other games. There is also the point that in some games you find yourself limited to one overpowering strategy e.g. Command and Conquer:Red Alert, where all you really had to do to win was churn out tanks. Units in Starcraft are extremely flexible, and I find that having played five different games as Protoss, for example, I have used virtually every unit for the side that I chose.

yet another plus point is the amount of control you have over your units. Like all games of this genre, you can put units in squads and set them to a numeric hotkey so you can access them at any time. However, Starcraft offers other features; pressing the hotkey twice will centre the screen on the units in question. Double-clicking on a particular unit will select all units of that type on the screen. Using the Attack Move command means that should your troops encounter any alien scum whilst travelling across the map, they will automatically defend themselves, then continue to their destination.

Althought the single-player missions are well thought out with an excellent plot illustrated by CGI cutscenes, I find myself enjoying the multiplayer aspect even more.

Basically, the point that I want to get across is that Starcraft is a game that has refused to lie down and die; the sheer variety in the game means that having tired of one option you can move on
to the next.
