About the Game Street Fighter 2: The world Warrior is the granddaddy of all fighting games. It is what started the whole genre and is one of the most popular franchises ever spawning games for virtually every console. This game led to the dawn of the fighting game genre and a host of games such as Mortal Kombat, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters, Tekken and Soulcalibur. You could choose to go one on one with a computer or human opponent. Inserted in the game are bonus stages just to break the monotony of combat. The game also has seven levels of difficulty. 'Hadoken', 'Sonic boom', 'Spinning bird kick' No not the lyrics to yet another inane Vengaboys Ibiza fuelled exercise in banality, but the voices that could be heard emanating from each and every half decent arcade some years back. The reason being? Street fighter 2 - The World Warriors Take eight of the Worlds best fighters and pit them all against each other in a tournament. Yes, the plot was really that complex... Well ok there is some pretence at a plot, the crux of each being that they need to defeat the final boss to seek vengeance of some kind or to prove themselves. One of the most famous videogames ever, I remember how Street Fighter II was often mentioned in my middle school. Since this was released in the early days of the SNES, it did much to help sell the machine. Indeed, the game was bundled with the machine for £129.99 and I’m sure many people must’ve bought a SNES to mainly play this game. It’s understandable. The graphics were attractive and solid, closely resembling those of the arcade machine. The audio was also pretty good, with some nice strong sound effects when characters are smacked and some good reproduction of the music from the arcade machine. Still, many games on the SNES were ...
