Stupid Invaders is easily one of the strangest games I have played in a long time. It is an adventure agame in the style of Monkey Island but with a far more 'adult' theme to it - in fact, probably the best of its kind since the Leisure Suit Larry Series of bygone years. The story follows 5 aliens - Bud, Etno, Candy, Stereo and Gorgeous in a series of adventures. First we find them on the Earth, having crash landed there. Etno, the brains of the operation fixes the ship whilst the others bum around - until the evil Doctor Sakarine sends an assassin called Bolok(!) to dispatch of them so that he can add them to his collection of alien races - trophies if you will. ... Stupid Invaders. The name really does say it all. Five aliens have crash-landed on Earth, in order to get their ship built they must stay at a (conveniently) abandoned house for a few days. The few days turn into years and unbeknownst to them, Dr Sakarine, an evil Dr who likes to collect alien races has sent hired goon Bolok (yes Bolok) to sort capture them. The game is the old skool point and click, something rarely seen these days as First Person Shooters dominate the market. Although it has 3D characters it is primarily centered in a 2D world. I first saw Stupid Invaders in a PC magazine and realised it was a point and click game, so i rushed out and bought it. And I wasn't disappointed! The point and click genre of games have left us and it is a great shame, because comedy classics like monkey island I to III, Sam n' Max, and Day of the Tentacle makes computer games worth playing. But games like Stupid Invader is sure to be one of many to bring back these classic series of games.
