Advantages: A Trip Down Memory Lane.

Disadvantages: Unimpressive, Unoriginal & Requires A Lot Of Time

SunAge is a post apocalyptic real time strategy game. It comprises of three different campaigns (The Federation, The Raak-Zun, and The Sentinel) that all follow a war from a different point of view. In this respect it reminded me of the old but brilliant Blizzard classic from the mid nineties `StarCraft' where you had the Terrain, Zerg, and Protoss (now that's a trip down memory lane.)

The graphics throughout are quiet awful considering this is 2008 so don't expect to see anything that impressive or inspiring. I would personally call SunAge a 2D game similar to Command & Conquer. It might have been impressive eight years or more ago but just won't cut it with serious gamers today. It struck me how long each mission takes to complete, in one case nearly three hours for a single map. Considering most of that time seems to be taken up by gathering resources, building defences, construction of your base and building units before actually being able to actually do something. I quickly found SunAge becoming repetitive and boring. The game seems to be controlled almost entirely by the mouse, but what really annoyed me was the fact that you can only seem to be able to select one particular type of unit at the same time, so you end up scrolling back and forward across the map. Don't be surprised if you end up with a sore wrist and forearm from prolonged gaming.

It seems that the creator took the best parts of some amazing games all pre-year-2000, combined them together, then waited years to release SunAge. Playing it I couldn't help but reminisce about the old school strategy games of the nineties. Because of this and the fact that SunAge WAS fun for around half a day, I've awarded it two stars rather than one. Unless you have a very old pc that won't play anything else or.... (sorry, can't think of any other reason to recommend this) then save your money or buy something else. Nothing about SunAge seems to be new or original and will leave you and your pc crying out for more.

Summary: Sadly This Is A Game To Avoid.
