I am not a major superbikes fan and bought this game as part of a pack of 6 games recently. However I was pleasantly surprised by how good it is.
The first thing I noticed was a nice feature which tells the novice, like me, all you need to know about the world of superbikes.
I decided for my first race I'd make the choice of arcade mode over simulation. When the race loaded I was amazed by the great graphics, and by the first corner I had overtaken half the field....
By the second corner I was half a minute behind. This was when I realised the game was going to take a bit of time to master. This isn't my scene at all, I like games of the pick up and play category, that are easy to use.
Gradually over time I have managed to improve at the game and actually won a few races! My one problem was getting high up, then braking for a corner and some bloke punted me off my bike. I sually trounced him in the fight for second last though.
In both arcade and simulation mode you can do a championship. For arcade mode grid position is done on championship placing, whereas for simulation you do proper qualifying. Several difficulty levels,great weather effects, 12 tracks and 32 bikes on one track make the game great. It even works with my steering wheel.
I can't comment on the competition as this is the only bike game I've played, apart from Road Rash. If you don't have it, pick it up for about a tenner on budget
