Novalogic certainly know how to make good games. They have a long line of excellent action games, which have all been good sellers, & Tachyon is no different! Right enough though, this is their first real attempt at a space flight sim & it’s a good one at that! I would say that Tachyon is one of the top space sims of the last few years & will be played for a good while to come. The Tachyon development team must have been worked night & day to have put so much detail into the graphics, sound & gameplay, because Tachyon is a joy to play! Tachyon: the fringe. You are a mercenary fighter pilot, who has recentely been framed for the destruction of a research facility. After a short trial you are thrown to the outer reaches of space known as... the fringe!. In your new life its up to you to get your money from the jobs that you can do successfully. A good space flight adventue, you take the helm as Jake logan, ace star pilot, with the voice overs, dialogue,and taunts provided by Bruce Campbell of Evil Dead fame, whose voice is a perfect match for the character. The game basically is an updated version of Elite (showing my age) though don't turn away yet, there is no trading though you get to carry out a range of missions set against amazing backgrounds, think babylon 5. There are two main routes through the game either the Corporate Galspan or the Redneck Bora. Bruce Campbell is the voice of Jake better known as for playing the king of thief`s in hercules and xena. Hear he is the voice of Jake a modern version of Elite? On installing this software The graphics looked fair and tweaking the options really showed them off and the problems began . Playing the game it crashed out Beware tnt2 ultra users you must patch the game. Once patched everthing was fine loads of missions good sound effects, training missions for a change are good.
