Advantages: Cant stop playing it

Disadvantages: Before you know it youve been playing for hours

I owned the original settlers game & couldn't stop playing it so when I found out they where releasing a anniversary edition I couldn't wait for it to hit the shops.

This game always brings a smile to my face, it's a very simple game in comparison to what you can play these days but sometimes the simple game are more fun to play.

Basically you area nation of people who are trying to get back home, you do this by building up you empire and expanding your territory until you reach a magical gate which transports you to the next realm. Sounds easy yes, well it's a bit more complicated than that.

To expand you territory you need to build various workers so to start you will need a woodcutter to cut down trees to get you wood to build more houses, then you need a sawmill to make the logs into planks, you will also need a forester to ensure you don't run out of trees, then you will need a stone cutter for bricks which are also needed to build houses, now you have the basics to enable you to build houses you need to start thinking about building knights huts (which once occupied will expand you border).

To have ensured you have enough knights to fill your huts you need to ensure you have a metal worker & for him you need coal & iron so you will need mines & you need to be able to feed your miners so you will need wheat farm, mill & bakery for bread & a pig farm & butcher for meat. You also need beer for the knights so you will need a brewery which also needs wheat.

Once you have the basic community up and running you can start promoting your knights, put a gold mine in place & a gold smith & they will produce coins which gets shipped out to the knights huts & the knights will gradually get promoted.

You can also expand you territory by attacking the oppositions knights huts, you send out how ever many knights you can spare and they fight over the hut, if you win your knights move into that hut & destroy what ever opposition buildings are in that area.

This is a cracking little game that I cannot stop playing, once I have completed it I start it over again as you can make every game different by place you building in different areas.

The graphics are brilliant also on this game, the very first settlers was only 2D, this one is 3D & you can zoom right in on one building & watch the worker do his thing.

Unlike some of the newer games out there this game can take quite a few hours to play each level & once you finish one you can't help but crack on and start the next.

Summary: This is a brilliant little game that once started you wont stop playing
