Advantages: Vacationing is fun and easy

Disadvantages: Time stops when your sim goes on holiday

This is no lie. If EAxis say they're going to come out with something and tell you what it is then they're definitely going to do it. Now the quality of these things is quite questionable. The Sims 2 Bon Voyage is one of the latest EPs for the Sims 2, a game in which you create your own characters (looks and personality wise) and then play with them throughout their lives.

The Sims 2: Bon Voyage is overall a very good, imaginative game but it could even be considered a different game all together of the Sims or maybe a mini-game in the game, like university. The concept of Bon Voyage is to have your Sims embark on different types of vacations. Your Sims can now go to honey moons and holidays randomly! Oh, but wait! You can't take your baby, you have to keep him being watched by a nanny who takes ages to leave even after you dismiss her several times. Well, no matter, you really want that vacation... right?

The Sims 2: Bon Voyage has one major down-fall like with all the sims add-ons, time does not pass when you're away and this is usually a week or so that your sims will be away. That means they don't get older there and you cannot bring very pregnant women on vacation.

There are three pre-made holiday lots, all differently themed. One is in the woods, for an outdoorsy holiday, one is on the beach, I suppose a Floridian one and an Oriental themed one. You can do anything from having a luxurious weekend in one of the most expensive hotels in the far east or camp for a week with your uni friends.

When you actually take a holiday, it can be very fun. You now have a little luggage icon that when you click on it tells you your memories and the sort of traveler you are (tourist, jet-setter, etc). While on holiday your sims will get aspirations related to being on holiday, such as ordering in or taking a tour. Depending on the place you go to you will probably learn a local gesture and you can make some friends just by hanging around the hotel. When you send your sim back home, however, you can't just invite them over. You have to invite them to stay for a few days, three is the minimum I think.

Your Sims will have a lot of fun while on holiday (usually) but a few things can spoil it, now there's an NPC called Unsavoury Charlatan and if he goes near your sim they will get their wallet stolen and also when you go on a tour (which you ask the tour guide in front of the hotel standing next to the yellow phone) and you will then get chance cards which can turn really well or really badly. Regardless of how badly you try to make their vacation horrible I have so far not been able to.

Overall it's very fun but I personally use it very sparingly because of the damper it puts on the strict timeline I like playing with. However, if you're not nearly as strict with time as I am when it comes to playing the Sims then by all means get this EP.

Summary: Nice, solid add-on but it feels like a completely different game sometimes
