Advantages: not expensive, doesn't take long to install, some lovely items
Disadvantages: doesn't really add much to the game
This game is part of a series of Sims 2 Stuff packs which aren't as big as the normal expansion packs. They simply add new items to the game such as clothes and decorations. This Glamour Life pack gives sims stylish decor for their homes and new clothes, which are mostly formal wear. I bought mine after getting the H&M Stuff pack and being very impressed with it. However, I was a bit disappointed with this one.
This was the third stuff pack to be released, and it was released in Europe in August 2006. I only bought mine a couple of months ago though. The cover just shows pictures of some of the items this game adds to the game, such as the new dresses and a water fountain. One good thing about these packs is that they don't take long at all to install since they aren't really proper expansion packs like University or Nightlife. Once you load it on, this is the disc you're supposed to use when you play the game to load everything up, however I have to use my other stuff pack which I loaded earlier. I don't know if this is a problem with the actual disc or if it's just my laptop, but if it doesn't load with this disc after you install it, use the disc you installed before it in case it does happen on all computers. Unlike bigger expansion packs this doesn't add any special features to the game so you'll only notice a difference when you buy new clothes for a sim, or buy them new items such as a new hi-fi system that changes colour.
I was expecting there to be a lot of new glamourous outfits available for men and women sims in the everyday category, which is the clothes they wear all the time but all you get here are a few plain outfits that look not unlike ones already available apart from the womens coat. There are however, some lovely formal outfits such as three colours of an egyptian style dress that has jewellery on it, and many colours of another shorter dress. Although these outfits are lovely, sims can only wear them when you get them to change into their formal wear and even if you make them wear it all the time, it doesn't appear on the family description since it isn't their everday outfit. The game does add on some new house items such as a new art-deco style bed and a square shaped water fountain with water coming from all sides (shown on the cover). It also adds on some nice decor such as carpets and pop-art for the walls. Other than that, there isn't really much else I can say about it!
Overall, I wouldn't say this is a must have for the Sims 2 since it doesn't really add a lot to the game. It does however glam up their lives a little so if you want some pretty gowns and nice decorations it's worth buying. If you're not bothered about that, then it's not really worth buying. I paid £9.99 for mine but have since found it for £7.99 online and there'll no doubt be cheaper ones elsewhere. Just don't pay £10 like I did!
Summary: Worth it if you like fancy clothes and decor!

- 29/08/07 I will admit, I liked this to start off with as the clothes and house accessories are really good....but then, as with The Sims, I got bored after a week and haven't been on it since! lol.
