I've bought a few of these expansion/add on packs over the years and having really like the H & M pack I thought the Ikea one might be a good choice.
Since the release of Sims 3 all the Sims 2 expansions and add ons became pretty cheap to buy. I bought mine from Amazon, though ebay is an equally good place to get them cheaply. The pack is exclusively for Ikea designed furniture but I'll explain a little about what exactly you get.
- Living Room -
You get a few new sofas which are really nicely designed and patterned as well as some armchairs. There are also great things like coffee tables, side tables and an entertainment storage unit. These are all things you would actually see in Ikea so you can kind of get closer to creating your own home as the furniture is all very contemporary.
- Bedroom -
You get a couple of fairly budget style beds which are good for poorer families or for making dorms if you have the university expansion. There are also things like wardrobes, chest of drawers and bed side tables. Everything looks very modern and stylish, though obviously with it being Ikea they are budget looking items.
- Office -
The office items are quite cool because they provide you with filing cabinets which you don't get in the original Sims 2. There are also a couple of desks and a really nice bookcase. All of these are great designs and super useful for furnishing your Sim's home.
- Extras -
There are quite a few cool light fittings which look like something you'd find in Ikea. One of the things I like most is the selection of art they have added to this pack, many of which I can imagine coming across in Ikea. They add a really nice finishing touch to your Sim's home and also boost their surroundings happiness meter. There are also great things like mirrors, rugs, clocks, plants and shelves which finish off the decorations in your home.
- Price -
The price for this pack is around £3 used on Amazon and more like £5 new. This is on the cheaper end of the scale in terms of other add ons available, and the quality of what you get is far better than some other packs.
Overall, a decent add on pack though 60 items isn't much.
=== Whats the Sims 2 about? ===
Sims 2 is all about creating so-called sims, which you can control. You control their lives in making friends, getting into a relationship and having a career. This is the same as the first part of this game. But the biggest changes were nevertheless that Sims could be really become old and the woman really pregnant. Back to Part 1 they maintained the same age and people could only have children, after much together in a romantic way interacted (kissing and hugging). The woman was therefore not pregnant, but the phone rang asking if you wanted a child. Not realistic. In Part 2, your Sims can actually get pregnant after they have gone to bed together and allows your baby to grow up to an elderly person and even death.
=== The Sims 2 Ikea Stuff ===
This is the eighth expansion pack for the game The Sims 2 and released in the year 2008. The package includes all new furniture and decoration of the Swedish furniture chain IKEA, primarily aimed at living rooms, bedrooms and home offices. It is the second accessory pack of products from a company. The first was H & M (also Swedish). The package was the second most sold game in Sweden for two consecutive weeks. It contains 76 items.
What I like is that they have added the real products of the Ikea from their catalog that you can use for decorating your home. So you have your Billy bookcase or the famous KLIPPAN bank (which I also have had)! You really can recreate your own living room!
I must say I found it funny to see how my Sims sit on the sofa which I've had or how they use the Billy bookcase. It gives just that fun element to the game, a piece of recognition. But that feeling is there for about 10 minutes and then it is gone. Normally you had to pay around 15 pounds for this expansion. Really too much since it's like a promotion package about the products from Ikea. 2 stars.
