Advantages: Zombies !
Disadvantages: None
I recently got the first expansion pack in the Sims 2 range of PC games, The Sims 2 University. It's the only expansion pack I have, but I think it's the only one I will end up getting as I'll get the Sims 3.
-- Packaging --
The box is light green in colour with a picture of a girl sim on her mobile phone and a boy sim graduating university holding a guitar. It comes with two discs which are easy to take out. You need both discs to install onto your computer or laptop. It doesn't take long to install but you can do other things while it's installing.
-- New Life Stage --
When you have the Sims 2 University installed you get a new life stage, young adult. Your sims can only be young adults when they are in university. Your teenage sims can go on their computer to get scholarships before they go to university. As soon as a teenager goes to university they automatically grow up into a young adult. They will continue to be a young adult all through university. If your sim drops out they will become an adult automatically, same goes for when the graduate.
-- New Social Interactions and The Influence Meter --
University brings a few more social interactions to your game to make it more interesting. Some of these are a new flirt interaction - Wolf Whistle, three pranks, pillow fight, hang out and more. One of the new interactions is Influence To..., another new feature of University is the new Influence meter. The influence meter is a new meter where a selected sim can influence another sim to do something for them such as "clean" or "serve meal". It can be very helpful to your sim if they have something more important to do, like live their lives (:
-- New Themes --
There are two new themes of clothing and furniture, Medieval and Groovy. The medieval style is olden style furniture such as new big-ish, square chairs and new beds with the curtains around the sides. The "Groovy" theme is all basically really bright colours and modern furniture. I prefer the groovy theme but the medieval one is also quite nice.
-- Zombies --
There is a new "creature" sim with University. To get a zombie one of your sims must know a sim that has died, also you must have the Paranormal career reward, the Resurrect O-Nomitron (You can use the boolProp testingcheatsenabled true cheat to do this quickly). It is a special kind of phone which you use to call the Grim Reaper to bring back the dead sim. If you don't pay enough your sim will return as a zombie.
Zombies have pale gray skin and walk with a limp. They hate the person who brought them back to life and sometimes tend to eat rubbish out of the bin. They can act in the same way as a normal sim when it comes to interacting.
-- University Types --
There are three preset universities already on the game, they are meant to resemble the three preset neighbourhoods. The universities are Sim State University, La Fiesta Tech and Académie Le Tour. These three universities come with their own preset characters but you can also make your own sims to add to the population of the university.
-- Price, Sound and Graphics --
The sound and graphics are the same, if not better, as in the original base game. There is no little squares all over all of the sims and furniture. The sound is still very clear if the volume is loud enough. Even if you have your sound down low it's still very clear. It costs around £10.00 new from amazon.
Summary: Very Good !
