Not enough Stuff for a stuff pack

*Requires the SIms 3 Base game to play*

Fast Lane Stuff is the Second stuff pack released for the Sims 3 and it was released in late 2010 so is nearly 4 years old at the time of writing this review. The main feature of this pack is Cars (on other vehicles) and the lifestyle surrounding driving fast cars.

There are 4 main styles introduced in this pack with the associated objects, vehicles and clothing to match:
Classic Luxury - Inspired by vintage cars of the 1930s
Racing - Inspired by Formula 1 cars of the 1990s and 2000s
Intrigue- Inspired by modern super cars
Rockabilly - Inspired by American 50s (my personal favourite)

This stuff pack offers 10 new cars, one new motorbike and one new scooter:

This stuff pack offers 10 new cars, one new motorbike and one new scooter:
*The Scooter (Scoot Mobile) is the cheapest vehicle available and comes in at 3500 simoleons and is roughly based on a Piaggio Vespa.
*The Motorbike (The Jamboree) is 4500 Simoleons and based on a Suzuki gsx600f Katona.
*The Cars range from the 8100 Simoleon heartbreak hot rod which s based on a 1940s Chevrolet Pickup (Rockabilly theme) to the 175000 Simoleon Velocity which is based on a modern formula one racing car (Racing theme) and the are plenty in between as well.

Altogether from the different themes there are :
      *2 Racing Cars
      *1 Racing Motorbike
      *2 Luxury Cars
      *3 Rockabilly Cars
      *1 Rockabilly Scooter
      *3 Intrigue Cars
      so a pretty nice mix.

The game comes with one new trait which is '' Vehicle Enthusiast'' but thsi requires you to update online so if you don''t have an internet connection you won''t get this trait (but will still be able to pay the game).

There are 44 new objects which to be perfectly honest I think is a really poor show for a stuff pack and 12 of the objects are the vehicles themselves so there is not much in the way of household objects considering the intro to the game makes out you can decorate your house to match your fast lane lifestyle - this is simply not true.

In create a sim there are :
      *12 new Hairstyles
      *15 new items of clothing
      *5 new accessories
which again is a really small amount of content and there is not even a new outfit for each new style which is a let down, although the new outfits they have got are really good and math the styles well.

There is one new radio station - Rockabilly which is pretty cool.

There is one new strange feature in the game as well which is the ability to develop relationships with your vehicle. The more you drive your car the higher your friendship bar will go. Sims with the vehicle enthusiast trait will develop relationships with vehicles more quickly than other Sims.

Had to cut this review short as it wouldn''t post
I can only give this 3* because I feel it offers around half the content it should.

Fast Lane Stuff - The sims 3

As a real fan of the sims you cannot stay behind when they come back out with a new expansion pack for the game. It is the first expansion pack accessories for the Sims 3 and it contains many new fast cars and luxury car-related objects for the home of your sim.

The game The Sims is all about the so called Sims. These are virtual people whom you can create yourself and thereby to determine what personality they have and how they look. In addition, you help them in making friendships, relationships, getting a job, buying a home and more. They live as if it were a real life.

As the title suggests, actually you only get accessories with this expansion. There are plenty of new objects including paintings of new cars, parts for your garage, fake petrol pumps and many more. You have four styles that you can choose from each with different furniture, clothes and cars:

      "Racing"
      "Intrigue"
      "Rockabilly"
      "Classic luxury"

I think the expansion is fun for people who love old classic and beautiful cars and this way you can have cars from the 50s (or American cars) for your house. However, these are only objects. So you cannot really drive it or do other things with it. It is nice of course to have an expensive old car in front of your house, but you can only click on the car and specify that you want to go somewhere. When you do this, then your sims will get into the car and drive away. That's all really. You do get a lot of objects so you can set up a real garage with the right clothing for working on the car.

I think it's a ok expansion pack, if you like cars. I find it offers a reasonable amount of cars with such a formula 1 car, a motorcycle, 60's cars, a La Matea (the equivalent of a Mercedes Benz SL) and an expensive car like a Maybach. A strange new addition, however, is that a sim can now also build a friendship with the car and the car appears as his friend between ordinary friends.. It sounds fun and it's also a nice addition, but it sounds better than it is. Ultimately it is just some new objects. However, three stars.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Contains lots of great content, but is it really worth £8?

As a massive fan of The Sims, I went out and bought the Fast Lane Stuff expansion to The Sims 3 straight away. Of course, it's not too hard to guess what it features. The pack contains loads of new speedy cars and fancy car-related objects for your Sim's home. Disappointingly for me, my computer got a virus and it's disc drive broke straight after buying the game. When I got it working after a few weeks, I wasn't disappointed but had the slightly high price in my mind at the same time.

I'll give you a quick overview of The Sims 3 before going onto the pack. You first make your Sims in Create-A-Sim. Using this, you change your Sim's features, clothes and traits as well as life goals. Your traits determine how your Sim acts in the game. For example, if you choose Heavy Sleeper, your Sim isn't very good at getting out of bed in the morning. You can create multiple Sims for your house.

You either build or choose a house to move into and get going. Starting off with a few thousand 'Simleons' in your inventory, you have plenty to make your house quite good-looking. Controlling any of the Sims you created, look around the town and strive to achieve their life goal. Your Sim's path ahead is up to you.

You get loads of items from the pack, and you may want to use the book inside the pack's case to see everything that you get. There are plenty of items, including fancy car paintings, decorative traffic cones, garage items, a neon car sign and a fake petrol pumps and much more. In addition to all of these items, you get loads of cars from a 50's style muscle car to a retro, old-fashioned truck to a speedy sports car.

Fast Lane Stuff is rated 12+ by PEGI (Pan European Game Information). The game contains some comical violence. The main reason for the 12+ rating, though, is sex. This is shown in quite a funny way, as two of your Sims can go under their bed covers and the bed violently shakes! I'm sure it will be suitable for most ages, as younger audiences may not understand.

Fast Lane Stuff is a good expansion to The Sims 3, overall. There are loads of new items for your house and some cool new cars. The £8-£10 price is a bit steep though, in my opinion. After all, you are only really getting a small expansion for The Sims 3. But if you're obsessed with the latest main addition in the extremely popular life simulator series, it's just about worth buying.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A fairly good stuff pack, but lacks in content

So, i ordered this game a few weeks ago. I'm a massive fan of the sims, and so far i've loved the expansion packs and stuff packs for The Sims 3. But to be honest, i felt a bit let down by this one. I was really excited about installing this game, first of all my laptop wouldn't read the disc, which had nothing to do with the game. But when that was fixed and i tried to install the game, it just froze my laptop.Eventually, i managed to install it.There are quite a few new cars in this stuff pack but i'd expected more clothing and hair styles. There's only two new female hairstyles, and neither of them are that nice in my opinion. The game case says 'Build the ultimate garage with racing-inspired themes'. I used all of the new objects in my garage and there was nothing 'ultimate' about it. If i wasn't such a big sims fan, i'd probably send this game back, but i like to have all the stuff packs so i'm going to have to keep it.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

One of the best stuff packs released for The Sims.

As is usual with The Sims stuff packs, there are new clothing and decor items, but unlike the stuff packs that have come before, not just for The Sims 3, but for the previous games too, there is an abundance of vehicles.

There are twelve different vehicles ranging from a scooter to a Formula 1 type car called The Velocity. They fall into four styles, the Racing Style, the Intrigue Style, which is all about wealth and class, an homage to James Bond, the Rockabilly Style, which is perhaps the most fun and is retro 50s rock and roll type cars and items and the Classic Luxury Style, which is again about class. From the emphasis on wealth and class, it seems they are foreshadowing the next expansion pack, Late Night, which is due for release on 30th November 2010, in which your sims can become celebrities.

Sims can build a relationship with their chosen vehicles and it even shows up in the relationship tab, just like other sims do when your sim builds a relationship with them. Sims can be given the new trait of Vehicle Enthusiast, which allows the said sim to name their vehicle immediately (sims who are not Vehicle Enthusiats have to wait until they have built up a friendship with their vehicle).

You can dress your sims with the new clothing and hair-dos that fit into the same style categories as the vehicles, so there is a large quiff for rockabilly sims and elegant gowns for classy sims.

I have always found stuff packs a bit disappointing because there is generally a lot of filler, in that most of the items are decorative ones that I don't tend to use. This is true of this game in some respects as there seems to be lots of traffic cones and road signs, but this game stands out purely because of the novelty of the vehicles.
