Advantages: More flexability, new customisable options

Disadvantages: Loses all the previous expansion packs

The Sims 1, and the Sims 2 - two big reasons why I lose my wife to the computer for many hours at a time. And to be fair, I can understand why. The Sims series lets you build up anywhere between a single character and a whole neighbourhood and to build them into anyone you like, and with a range of expansion packs allowing you to add new environments, careers and items to them the game has shown time and again that it's never ending.

Now it's time for the 3rd generation of the game and from first impressions in spite of promises, she's likely to be lost to me for hours at a time again! The game boasts it's most customisable than ever allowing jobs, dreams, clothes and houses to be cusotmised. Sadly previous expansion packs don't work, making all those hundreds of pounds you've already spent on previous editions. The Sims personalities have been expanded too, meaning that the Sims will be that bit more erratic and making the whole game that bit more challenging...and then there'll be expansion packs to come - say goodbye to your social life!

Summary: Time to get the Sims going again!
