Advantages: Fun. Addictive. Improved.

Disadvantages: More content

After so many years of development and countless delays in release, fans of the previous two sims (myself included) have been eageraly awaiting the arrival of the biggest pc game franchise to date. And now finally it has arrived. I got my copy pre-ordered knowing full well that copies would be selling like hot cakes and indeed I was right as most stores are already out of stock, but are ordering more.

I played it over the weekend and I msut say it is a very polished game. The graphics are much better and there are small detailed improvements such as mirrors reflections and the tv's now show full clips instead of just a static image. However, the main improvements that really captivate the player making it so addictive you can just play for hours on end are the seamless neighbourhood integration that was not possible in previous sims; the new personailty traits system; enhanced build mode and the moodlet system.

Gone are the days where you had to wait for loading other areas and the lack of a communtiy. With Sims 3 you can take your sims everywhere and this provides more social opportunities plus the sims around you now develop with your sims.

The new personailty traits make each time you play a unique experience as every story and outcome will be different depending on which traits you choose. A good sim will do everything right. A kleptomaniac will want to steal etc. and there are many to choose from and different combinations bring even more interesting outcomes.

The enhanced build mode allows you to build walls much more easier by simply dragging a whole area and you can now edit any design to make it your own and match up every item if you wish.

The moodlet system is an ehanced way by which the players need work instead of having to keep checking the sims' needs you can now just focus on their mood and it is so much fun to see how they react to everything around them.

You can now have cars, mobiles and even choose what you want to do at work. Sims can get fat and there are more ways to earn simoleans (sim cash). Things like catching and selling fish, gems, food or butterflies to name a few.

The Sims 3 is a game that simulates life, but one where you can create any character you can imagine and the life you choose.

Summary: Addictive virtual life game
