Advantages: Amazing gameplay, so much more advanced.

Disadvantages: Doesn't run as well on laptops, but thats kind of to be expected.

In 2000, EA gave us The Sims. In 2004, they gave us The Sims 2. Now, in 2009, we have the greatly anticipated Sims 3.

The Sims PC franchise has become the biggest selling in history so, naturally, The Sims 3 had a lot to live up to; with promises of never before seen features like the seamless neigbourhood. In my opinion, they didnt dissapoint!

The Sims 3 features a seamless neighbourhood, where you could follow your sim to work, or follow a child to school! The whole neighbourhood is constantly changing with the family you play. For example, people grow up, get married, and have babies, whilst you are concentrating on your sims. At first, I was quite sceptical about this, thinking it would slow down gameplay and thought there MUST be some loading time somewhere! However, I was proved wrong, and the gameplay was fantastic!

You can create sims that are so much more human-like than in previous games. Anything about the sim, from their size to the length of their eyelashes can be changed! The first time I played the game, I spent an hour just creating a family because of the amount of things you can do. The only thing I would say is that there isnt a great amount of choice in their clothing, but the same could have been said for the other games before the expansion packs were about. You can choose up to 5 traits for your sim, they impact your sims lives in a big way. For example, sims with the "good" trait will go out of their way to make sure friends are all ok, and can also donate to charity. Then, sims with the "family oriented" trait will love having big families and have good relationships with family members. Other traits include: Absent-Minded, Loner, Loser, Friendly, Artistic, Snob, Loves the Outdoors. You also choose your sims favourite things (colour, food, and music) and can choose what they sound like. There are rewards that you can get as well, I got increased fertility for one of my sims, and she had triplets!

In build mode you can customise your entire house, and making a room bigger is much easier! You can match the colours and patterns all over the house.

In buy mode, many of the items are very similar to those in the sims 2, but you can place things practically anywhere due to the fact that the tile grids are 4 times smaller, and you can place things diagonally.

There are so many different places to go. Theatres, book shops, grocery stores, beaches, and swimming pools are just a few of the locations. You can take classes to learn a particular skill too!

Overall, The Sims 3 has surpassed expectations and is an innovative and fun game to play!

Summary: Great game, very addictive!
