Advantages: Addictive as ever

I would like to congratulate Electronic Arts for producing such increasingly high-quality titles. I am a devoted Sims fan: I love the micro detail of the gameplay, from choosing your Sim's clothes to what music they listen to. It's even fun (in a puerile way) choosing when to make your Sim go to the toilet!

I was not disappointed, therefore, to play the third installment in the franchise.

The Sims 3 has incredible graphics, endless play options and such powerful character generation tools that you can effectively create an electronic version of yourself, warts and all.

However, these positive attributes come at a price: the game takes up a vast amount of hard-disk space (it seems like around 8 gigabytes on my laptop) and requires substantial RAM and CPU power to keep it running smoothly. At the time of writing it is also frustratingly expensive, as the title is apparently so popular EA don't feel compelled to lower the price.

Overall this is the most sophisticated title to date, which has retained old favourite aspects, introduced some new features (principally related to an online community), and enhanced the graphics and sound.

If you have enough cash and a good computer, then I can heartily recommend it.

Summary: Lower the price and it would be 10 out of 10
