Advantages: seamless neighbourhood

Disadvantages: speed

In comparison to the innoative nature of the two predecessors, 'The Sims Three' has proven to be a bit of a disappointment in many circles. Whilst a seamless neighbourhood was introduced to create shorter loading times between households, and the commercial lots, this has been undone by the lack of fastforwarding ability through everyday activites (such as sleeping and working) that both the Sims 1 and 2 held. Although the general consensus is that the speed of the fast forward button depends on the individual system's specifications, the fact that a computer which on the surface meets the minimum system requirements, but when playing the game means that you have to wait 8 minutes watching your sims sleeping, is ridiculous. Until there is a patch available from EA, this feature (or lack thereof) makes playing the game virtually impossible, unless you have ample time, or ample family members to play with in rotation, whilst some sleep.

Summary: don't buy until EA delivers a patch

Fast foward works ok on more new laptop with a good graphics card and lots of ram. On my crappy old desktop fast foward didnt seem to work at all.

Moving on from the lack of a fast forward button, what's the actual gameplay like?
