Advantages: Really entertaining game
Disadvantages: Can be demanding on computers resources, expensive expansion packs.
I have always been a huge fan of the Sims, since The Sims (original) came out around 2001 (Esitmate).
Now I'll give a brief explaination of the Sims for those who are unaware of its existance...
The Sims is a role playing game, where you create your own characters, define their personalities, the way they look and act, their aspirations, whats they're interested in, if they study hard or are a party animal, whether they're athletic or a bookworm, it's all completely up to you.
You can also decide what neighbourhood they live in, who their neighbours are, if they live with a flatmate, mum and dad or boyfriend or girlfriend, whether they love their housemates or clash with them horribly, whether they have children, you can give them a successful life of happiness or a depressing life of misery, all for your own amusement.
Will you chose a life of crime for them? or an honest career path?
It is all up to you, hundreds of looks, loads of different career paths and achievements, as well as they new lifestyle achievements where you get rewards for meeting your sims wants/needs.
You design the house, who lives their, the holidays they go on.
Or if you're feeling lazy and just want to get into gameplay you can play on a pre-created Sims house with pre-created Sims and live up to everything already having been decided for you, or just go against the Sims wants to see what happens!
The Sims 3 is the newest addition to the series, as of yet no expansion packs are out, but if previous Sims games are anything to go by then there will be pretty soon.
The Sims 3 is unique in the sense that it has online gameplay (As well as being able to play the game without internet connection, so don't panic if you're not online), so you can play with other sims creators and swap items, it is also good for people of all ages, I've been playing the Sims games since I was about 11, now I'm 19 I'm still as addicted, and I know many people my age who still play.
I'd recommend anyone to give it a go!
Although I think you'll need a PC with at least 2GB Ram, 160GB hard drive and a 256MB Dedicated graphics card, and a dual core processor is preffered!
Summary: Everyone should have a play!
