Advantages: Great graphics, excellent gameplay, brilliant control system, game will have add-ons available
Disadvantages: Lack of contents to purchase for me but this will be fixed with add-ons you can purchase
The Sims 3 sees the hugely successful franchise from EA games return with its newest version on the PC following The Sims 2 and all of its expansion packs, The Sims Castaway and The Sims Stories. This is the game all of those who loved the Sims have been waiting for and keeping hope up that it would fix all of those little things wrong with the old versions but does it deliver?
First impressions on loading the game were that is once again had an excellent control layout and did not disappoint in the graphics department which were the 2 biggest worries I had as these were the 2 basic elements.
So once I was past these 2 hurdles did things get better or worse? Well the game once again allowed the player a good amount of control over the development of your household but disappointingly I felt the game did lack items to be purchased and felt that this was something lacking which I had beleived the game would have addressed but I am guessing this has been done for purchased add-ons to once again boost the companies coffers.
The game plays nicely and smoothly and once again allows you to decide your career path as well as develop your skills in different fields to allow you to progress.
So all of this sounds good but what happens as you get older? Your sim will get grey hair and you will see them ageing before you eventually see them pass on but this is not the end of them as they come back and haunt your household which can cause issues for some of your remaining sims so try to monitor this situation as it can get your sims down.
So now for the breakdown.
Positives:
- Excellent graphics
- Good control system
- Smooth gameplay
- Good game depth
- Mobile phone now allows for you to be contacted when not by your phone
- Good career and family development
- Characters are seen to age
Negatives:
- Lack of items to purchase from the game as purchased
- Once character passes on then will continue to haunt your other sims
All in all this is a good game and for those willing to spend money on add-ons I am sure that this will allow for more depth but as a basic start up pack for the game this is an excellent offering with terrific graphics and smooth gameplay that will keep adults and kids entertained alike. This game is for those who had the original or who have never played this type of game before as it is well designed and has pick up and play as a true option for me.
Summary: This is another excellent Sims game and is the step up that we all hoped for
