Advantages: Lots of fun

Disadvantages: Takes ages to customise everything

I used to be a big fan of The Sims and The Sims 2 in my school days! I really enjoyed them but I guess I just kind of grew out of them and played them less and less until I'd almost forgotten about them. I don't know what made me go out and buy The Sims 3 last week, it simply popped into my head so I bought a copy and had a play about with it.

Installation was fairly simple, I got a little bored and impatient waiting as it took a bit longer than most other games but I guess that's just because it's a big game with a lot of content. First impression of the game was good, didn't take long at all to load up and get playing. First difference I noticed from The Sims 2 was the graphics, they are so much better! Also everything you build/buy can now be completely customised - colour, texture etc. although it does take a bit of time. My favourite difference is the ability to walk all over the neighbourhood, visiting different places without having to wait on the loading screen as in previous Sims. Other differences I really liked are the new hobbies, careers in local business's etc.

Not many downsides but one of the few things that really irked me were the tutorials!!! I hate doing tutorials and it seemed with every new thing I did a new one came up. Obviously you can opt not to do the tutorials or learn more about the new things but it still asks you for everything you do! I must find a way to switch off all tutorials! The only other thing I was disapointed in was the fact that it doesn't have any of the things the previous expansion packs did like uni, pets etc. I guess they will bring the expainsion packs out and make even more money!

Here are some of my favourite silly things to do (everybody has their immature moments!!) -
Try to kill my Sim by fire, starvation etc. so I can make them a zombie :D
Build a huge mansion and try and make it look real
Make a sim get married and get another sim pregnant
Try to build a copy of my own house
Try to make my sim an alien and have alien babies
Start off with a really poor family and try and make them as I can without cheating

You'll definately like this if you liked previous Sims and it's hours of fun.

Summary: A great game to amuse yourself without concentrating too hard
