Advantages: Grat idea, Classic Sims qualities
Disadvantages: Hard to play, Game runs slowly in studio town
Being a music student, this game seemed like the perfect solution to a post exam freedom! It's got the classic Sims beauty of being wonderfully addictive, (note to all students - DO NOT PLAY BEFORE EXAMS OR NEAR ASSIGNMENT DUE DATES!) yet has the new game theme of 'becoming a star Dahling!!'. ***Technical stuff*** To play The Sims Superstar, you first of all need to own The Sims original, or The Sims Deluxe Edition. Also the following is stuff your computer must have! OS - Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP Processor - 450MHz Intel Pentium II Memory - 128MB RAM Hard Drive - 1.12 GB CD-DVD - 4 Speed Graphics - 4MB DirectX - Version 7.0a Sound Card - DirectX 7.0a Compatible Input - Keyboard and mouse ***The Game*** This is the description of the game from the back of the box "Experience the lifestyles of the rich and famous and guide your Sims to superstardom. Make a name for yourself as a movie star, rock star or fashion model, and then spend your hard earned cash on a selection of extravagant new items for your home. Will your Sims skyrocket to fame or fade into obscurity?" Well, I was really excited when I got this game and I think it is a fantastic theme for the Sims but I was a little bit disappointed to be honest! It is quite similar to the Sims game where you can go downtown in that when you want to go to studio town you go and phone for a car to come and pick you up. The quality of the car depends on how many stars you have, therfore how far you are up the ladder to stardom. To become a celebrity, you need to first register with an agent and to do this is very simple. Along with the paper that gets delivered every morning, also comes a celebrity magazine type thing and, just as you find a job with the newspaper, simply click on the magazine and click where it says find an agent and bingo - you're now on the bottom rung of the ladder. To p
rogress up the ladder and get more stars, you need to improve your skills, as you do with any of the careers, and then go to Studio Town and perform to gain approval of the audience. The happier the audience are and the more talented your sim, the quicker they will progress. A bit of advice I will give players of this game is to get all your skill levels to maximum and get friends before starting the celebrity career, also read the game instuction book as it tells you what order to do the different activities in studio town. All of the activities, whether it be modelling, singing, or acting, require you to have certain star levels to actually do them. For instance the only ones you can do just after you've started with no stars are either the open mic, or karaoke. Overall - great idea but hard game to play and I found it ran very slowly when in studio town Happy playing!!!
