Advantages: Simulation of real life

Disadvantages: Monotonous, too difficult to balance work with you sims social life, not much to do

I purchased this shortly after its release and it kept me entertained for about a week. For around £30 I expected more than a weeks worth of entertainment especially seeing as this game doesn't have any extra replay value, it is what it is and there's no more to it.

Initially looking after your sims, organising their lives etc is quite fun. The fun however disappears once your sims climb their career ladders. To get higher they need a certain number of friends which is very difficult to organise whilst ensuring your sim is clean, full of energy and has enough skills to advance through the various levels for their employment. It then just becomes a monotonous game whereby most of the free time your sim has is spent talking to other sims or improving his/her skills with the other elements left for the final three hours before your sim sleeps.

I wouldn't advise anyone to buy this, there are far too many flaws with it, some of which have been ironed out in Sims 2. If you must buy a sims game buy Sims 2 but I'd rather wait for Sims 3.

Summary: Wait for Sims 3 or buy Sims 2 if you must
