Advantages: Thoroughly enjoyable, excellent graphics, higly addictive.

Disadvantages: Doesn't run very well on old machines.

I'm not the greatest writer of opinions on computer games but I thought I would give it a go as this is my favorite game.

The Sims is another addition to the SIM collection, including the SimCity games, etc. Unlike the other games in the range, this game isn't 'boring' or as 'strategic', it is quite funny and very pleasing to play.

The object of this game is quite simple - to create and control your own simulated people. Just like other 'sim' games, you cannot 'complete' this game. It's really never-ending. Their is really no aim to the game, you simply create your own rules and objectives and see if you can achive them.

When you first start the game, you are requested to create a family, this can be an individual or an actual family. As a general rule, an indivdual is easier to manage. You can create what they look like, what their name's are and influence their personality by setting their star-sign.

Once you are happy with your family, you can then move them into a pre-fabricated house, or build your own. Their is extensive options to build your house, whether you want one floor or two, brickwork or cladding, red carpets or chinese style, etc. Their is also a wide range of items you can furnish your sim's home with.

Everything you build is from scratch and is bought with the monies your sims receive from going to work. Your Sim can get work by reading the newspaper daily or by searching online with a computer (although these are expensive and won't be getting one until later in the game).

One object would be to see how succesful your Sim can be, whether in their career or financially. You may decide you want to see how many Sim's you can starve to death (when they die a tombstone takes ther place) or you may wish to see how many kiddies you can have, of which how many die from not being fed!

You have complete control over their lives,
you can control their relationships, work, environment, pretty much everything.

I really love this game, it's a way of relaxing, getting out of one's self (without the use of drugs, which are bad).

I bought it from a local dealer, it cost me £28, which is a good price. I believe it costs around £35, so shop around!]

You'll need a P266 or above and 64 megs of RAM to play this game efficiently. It is a big memory eater!

The game is supported by many websites, including the offical website at www.thesims.com. You will find many different cheats and additional items online. Many of which can be very funny, or very poor. Best to try a few out to keep the flame buring, so to speak.

If you haven't had the SIM experience yet, I really do recommend this game.
