Released for the PC in 2002, 'The Thing' is a third-person survival horror game based on the classic 1982 John Carpenter film of the same name. The game sees you play as a researcher on a remote arctic outpost who is forced to fight for his life after a grotesque shape-shifting life-form appears after untold millennea of being frozen in the ice and begins to assimilate your fellow researchers, turning them all into beings like itself that neverleless hide their alien nature behind utterly convincing replica human forms. So, to summarize, amazing film + great new game idea + the PC = something you need to get on your Christmas list very soon. Many people had been waiting for this ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

This game starts after the film ended (having seen the film only once and ages ago I cannot go into much detail.) the film was basically about a team of scientists being killed/stalked by The Thing. (Here we see a major change where in the (original) film there was only one Thing the game sees many different sized Things.) In the game you control Captain Blake leader of a military team sent in to investigate a scientific outpost in the Antarctic which has been destroyed by a mysterious shape shifting alien. Before you start you must pick one of three difficulty levels (easy, medium or hard). The only real difference this makes to the game is that on ...  Read the complete review
