Advantages: Diverse objectives, non-linear, not at all dated, a lot of fun, cheap, relatively simple.
Disadvantages: Similar to a lot of other titles, e.g; Rollercoaster Tycoon, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper....
A highly enjoyable and utterly playable hospital simulation game from Bullfrog (Dungeon Keeper I and II) and Electronic Arts (Dead Space, Theme Park.)
Theme Hospital is one of the few classic retro PC games that has barely aged at all. The game's objective is to successfully run a successful and economically viable hospital in order to move to a larger hospital before finally completing the game. Sub-objectives include distributing money frugally to fund research, hiring capable staff within a reasonable price range, ensuring that your hospital has ample refreshment, seating and heat in order to keep patients and staff happy, buying and selling plots of land, assigning different handymen to different specialties including machine maintenance, cleaning and watering plants, and ensuring that you run a hygienic and efficient hospital, which will be routinely checked by a VIP.
This game is instilled with much of the humour and light-heartedness of most of Bullfrog's titles, as well as being a game which appeals to the more passive gamer.
It is available on the Sold Out titles in most games retail shops, often for around £5 and is definitely worth the money if you fancy some light-hearted management simulation fun that will keep you chuckling throughout.
Summary: A nice little non-linear entertaining game that is definitely worth the money.

- 10/04/09 A classic which I used to play back when I was a kid. Nice review, but could be better by emphasizing more on the gameplay instead of rushing to it all in one go. |
