“ 2 games in one pack. In Theme park compete against 40 other Theme parks Design your own park, run your own shops, hire and fire your staff, play the stock market, negotitate wage rises. Plus Theme Hospital sequel to Theme park. „
Theme hospital is a great little game where there are about 10 levels which progressively get harder. You can build your own hospital, and as you develop your research you acquire more treatment/medical rooms and discover new diseases, and make more money. The diseases are humerous eg. bloaty head or the squits. The graphics are a little old, but the game is still great to play for a few hours. There are set goals for each level, and when you complete them you move on to the next or you can reject, play for another 'theme hospital year' and get offered more money for your next hospital. There are also little bonus rounds where you have to shoot the rats to keep the hospital clean.
Now Theme park is not so good, I could not figure how to get this game going. The graphics are poor and I would get into debt straight away. There isn't much fun to this. But overall Theme hospital is worth a go.
Theme hospital is timeless with it's cute cartoon graphics and no competing games, probably 'cos theme hospital's pretty complete, however them parks isn't as good, and nowadays is very outdated, get rollercoater tycoon instead. With theme hospital, you manage your own hospital, and after doing so well on one you get a job offer for another. Unlike theme park where the parks are practically the same each time, the hospitals are different in theme hospital and as you progress through the game you get new things to try out, and new things to deal with. For example, in some hospitals there are no trained doctors in the area, but you have three doctors capable of training that come with your hospital, each one of them with their own particular skill. This means that you have to train doctors in order to have the correct staff for your hospital. In another hospital, you are in an area prone to epidemics. If one starts in your hospital, you can either let the authorities know, pay a fine and have your reputation hit, or you can try and cover it up. If you're successful in covering it up, then the health inspectors suspect your hospital, but as they have no proof they have to pay you a large amount of cash in damages. However if you fail to clean it up, then you have to pay them a large fine and take a big reputation hit. You rival against 3 other hospitals for patients, and you can play online games rivalling really people, however I haven't tried this out yet. Overall, theme park sucks, get rollercoaster tycoon instead, but theme hospital is timeless, so I?d definitely recommend you buy this by itself.
Theme Hospital is one great little game from Bullfrog. Being the descendant from its big brother Theme Park, it has a lot to live up to and thankfully I can say in all honesty that it does! A friendly interface and detailed graphics makes this game not only appealing but the real fun is in the game itself. In Theme Hospital (if you know “theme” games) you have to build up modern business trying to achieve goals throughout the level before a deadline at the end of it, in this case a hospital. You go through the levels, competing against other competitors in an attempt to be the best. Emergencies are one of the nice touches Bullfrog have added to create interest and excitement, and many cases are very appealing, for instance Bloaty Head, Alien DNA and Jellyitis are some of the favs of new and experienced players of Theme Hospital. Of course not everything is hunky-dory, earthquakes, stubborn staff and in some cases monthly-long levels can make this game quite annoying half way through as I learned, But apart from that this game is a definite hit for me and I sincerely recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of managing experience and a laugh at the same time.
Does anyone remember the day Theme Park was released? I remember, it was back in my peak gaming career of my early teens. I played various demos of it weeks before of the cover of "Amiga format", it looked so beutiful and so gracious. What a concept, I am sure every living person has walked around Alton Towers (or other theme park type places), just wishing they had the chance they could rebuild this dump! I had been waiting to get the full game for months, it was christmas...I knew that my older brother had bought it for me. I had to play it, and I did something naughty, something I have never admitted to until now. I stole it, took it downstairs in the middle of the night and played it, carfully returning it later. That was how desparate I was. The game was released over 5 years ago now, and since then I have grown up and changed my views on games and stealing. I played Theme Park only yesterday, it is still great. The little teaming people wander around the park screaming joys of delight and disgust, they think, they do everything. I do not really expect much from a game nowadays as long as it is amusing, I'm happy. Well, Theme park certainly is. The trouble of course with TP is that it is ageing, growing a grey beard round its box chin. It now looks incredibly dated, it has had its time. Since then, better Theme Park design games have been released, including the incredible rollercoaster tycoon. I love that game. Also bullfrog have released two sequals to the game (Theme Park World) and they are in full 3d and more entertaining. So as you can see TP is really the great grand daddy of the family. Three years later... Bullfrog return, a new game Theme Hospital. "What? Why would I want to design a hospital?" I hear you scream! Well do not look away to hastily, the game is actually a good laugh. It certainly is not real, people enter your hospital with invisibil
ity and Bloaty head disease. Actually, come to think of it, with the absolutely disastorous state of the NHS at the moment, Theme Hospital is a step in the right direction. With it the minister of health may realise actually how to manage a hospital. Well parhaps that is slightly far-fetched! Anyway, back to the game. In Theme Hospital, much like Theme Park, you design and run a successful hospital (a surprise!). You get targets, such as amount of people cured or money or hospital value. It can get really difficult, as epidemics errupt around the grounds, you must control it before the minister for health finds out. Ok, lets not get carried away now. Theme Hospital is not an amazing game really. In its day it was quite good, now however it looks slightly dated. The day to day runny is hectic and repetative and you can get bored, waiting for a certain target that you will reach eventually in 4 hours. And, I mentioned epidemics, now they just get you annoyed. Even if the hospital is perfectly clean, they break out. You clear it away and another breaks out and another. It makes you so annoyed you want to smash the screen! There are 15 levels in Theme Hospital to play through and as you complete each level you get new facilities and diseases to combat on the next one. It is repetative, and the learning curve is not really steep enough to make you want to continue all the way through the game, although I did. Oh, and the intro is good! Anyway, this pack is really quite special, a game that changed the shape of gaming world for future generations...and its not so good follow up. I especially recommend this gaming pack for people with less than full speed computers that can not handle the power of modern games. These two games will keep you amused for quite a while. Its only a tenner and certainly worth the money, if you do not own the games already then it is worth a look.
