It's inevitable after the recent success of Tiger Woods that he would be feature in a computer game. It can sometimes be a warning sign when a so called star is featured in such a product as it can mean the game is weak so they use a big name to try to sell the wares. This game is wholly unoriginal, but it is a golf game so what do you expect really? You start by creating your player, choosing what he or she looks like, basic playing style and then take on the world at the game of golf. To start with you need to prove yourself and so have to win a qualifying tournament in order to progress to the PGA tour proper, where the money can be won! ... Read the complete review

When I visited a friend of mine last night for a few ‘Orange Juices’ he proudly showed me his new purchase a Playstation 2 and along with it had come Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2001. The graphics struck me as very crisp and clear much better than any golf game that I have seen on the old PS1. The resolution was more like a PC game with very impressive rendering of textures. Even Tiger Woods himself looks the part and I don’t think we will get much better. I've been ignoring EA's sports brands for years, FIFA, NBA Live, F1, and Tiger Woods (there are others), for one reason, they are supposedly crap! While FIFA offers players with more options than you could possibly need (and want) the game also lacks in the playability stakes, unless your one of those who are easily pleased (playstation owners). Tiger Woods PGA Tour follows in this mould, endless options, refinements and styles of play. The difference with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2001 (TW2001) is that it does have some depth to it's gameplay and is a clear improvement over the last effort. TW20001 has the official license of the PGA Tour and so has ... Read the complete review

I don't play golf I don't watch golf (for more than 5 minutes at at time) I don't read golf magazines I don't know any golfers What am I doing with this game? I don't know that either, but hey I fancied a change. After winning trophy after trophy on Championship Manager I felt it was time to get something else until the new installment comes out (October 2001) so I settled for Tiger Woods 2001, or rather my wife did. I don't know why, she doesn't play golf either, maybe it's because golf is a quiet game ;). I jumped straight in, of course I didn't read the instructions (I'm male - we don't do that) ... Addictive, plenty of scenarios to complete, fun for all age groups
poor graphics, repetive gameplay, overshadowed by Zoon Tycoon 2.

Wonderfully acted briefings are still here, quirky units show some remnants of the series humour
Looks like it was done with crayons, more demanding than is really necessary
Agatha Christie Mysteries (PC)
Expendable (PC)
simple but fun gameplay, good soundtrack, appealing visuals
nothing very original, 2 player mode on one keyboard is annoying
