Advantages: addictive, good looking graphics
Disadvantages: tricky control, slow
I don't play golf I don't watch golf (for more than 5 minutes at at time) I don't read golf magazines I don't know any golfers What am I doing with this game? I don't know that either, but hey I fancied a change. After winning trophy after trophy on Championship Manager I felt it was time to get something else until the new installment comes out (October 2001) so I settled for Tiger Woods 2001, or rather my wife did. I don't know why, she doesn't play golf either, maybe it's because golf is a quiet game ;). I jumped straight in, of course I didn't read the instructions (I'm male - we don't do that) and began battering away on my mouse. It soon became apparent that I was rubbish and something needed sorted - could it be I didn't know a Wood from an Iron or Driver from a Sand Wedge? Could it possibly be that I continued to use the same one club all the time until the game forced me to use my putter? I think so. I didn't win first time, I wasn't happy. I huffed and the game was left alone. 1 month later I decided I would give it another go, I took the time to read the manual, played on the practise areas and soon got to grips with it, and now I can't stop, I'll have a quick round at lunchtime, another 1 or 2 in the evening, and you won't see me for sand on Sundays. Yet one thing is wrong, I still can't win, heck I haven't even graduated from the qualifying school on the PGA Tour option yet :). I understand that you can compete online with others, I'm not ready to do that yet. You can also design your own courses, I could always build 18 holes on flat land to see if that helps me win :), maybe not. I'll keep trying, and I suggest you do too.
